E3: Samsung slides under Gaikai's bedsheets

It looks as if LG isn't the only electronics provider getting chummy with Gaikai as Samsung announced today that some of their TVs will also incorporate cloud gaming.The Samsung LED 7000 series and up will all allow owners to stream games directly to their televisions.

Not much about the game selection was mentioned other than to say that AAA and family-friendly titles would be available, though if Samsung owners have access to the Gaikai cloud, it would stand to reason all games open to Gaikai users would also be open to people with Smart TVs.

As of yet there are very few details about how this partnership will work, but sign-ups for beta testing of the product should open soon, so maybe we'll find out more about this then.

Legacy Comments (will be imported soon)

So no more Sony takeover or was it actually OnLive instead??
Things like this are probably where the part time mainstream gamers will move eventually. It'll be hard to sell people who have no particular passion for gaming expensive hardware when smart TVs will be able to stream games like they stream movies.
Could have sworn I heard about this some where a month or two ago.. Just can't remember where.

@OneRed

Well, it's also 2 other things, the way I see it.

1) Console makers might need to think of going into this themselves (Sony's already got a door they can go through..)

2) Things are expensive, and are only going to get more expensive. This is a great way to continue your hobby without needing to choose a TV or a Console: they'e both right there.
