Your first look at Michael Phelp's Kinect swimming title

Nick Chester, Former Editor-in-Chief (2011)

If there were any doubt that Kinect for Xbox 360 would break new gaming ground, look no further than Michael Phelps: Push The Limit.

Yeah, it's a swimming game that utilizes the Kinect sensor and features Olympic athlete and part-time Aquaman, Michael Phelps. Developed by Blitz Games, Push the Limit will use the controller-free experience to try to translate swimming into a fun living room experience. Or something.

"Push the Limit is about improving and mastering every race element, from controlling your adrenaline on the block to perfectly timing your finish," says Phelps.

Players take control of an up-and-coming swimmer in Push the Limit, entering an Animus from Assassin's Creed as they race against Phelps and ignore their cute girlfriends. Or at least that's what the trailer is telling me.

Michael Phelps: Push the Limit is out this June.

Do I have to flood my living room to play?
I cannot unsee that first picture. Thanks a lot, Nick.
...to try to translate swimming into a fun living room experience. Or something.
I can't watch the trailer on my phone, so I may be getting this wrong, but you enter a machine to swim virtually? Couldn't your character just like swim for real? For that matter couldn't the player?
Erm... is it only me, or the vid is a 4 secs long Apringborad Ad and nothing else?! o.O
bong smoking minigame included?
The logo design is pretty bad, and the girl at the end was very cheesy, but it could turn out well.

It needs a bonus minigame where you play as a sperm racing against others to impregnate an egg though.
The original title for this game was "WAVE YOUR ARMS AROUND IN A CIRCLE FOR 3 MINUTES AS FAST AS YOU CAN - The Game"
Kinect is super duper awesome. Now we can actually swim in our living room without water. How awesome was that? >.>
sofik88's posts make me so happy. A swimming game, praised as original and "the right way to go". That is beyond awesome.
Water you waiting for?

This game might just do swimmingly.

Of course, I might need some Phelp understanding it.

I just hope the game doesn't leave me high and dry.
Sofik dying to see this dudes junk lol.

This game looks sofiking stupid. Do you like lay on a sofiking foot stool or something? Or just stand and do swimming motions like a Sofik?

Well at least it's more feasible than playing a shooter with kinnect.
uhhhh....

Okay.
@RenegadePanda

I agree - this game is sure to make a big splash

Certainly the breast stroke of genius for the platform
Wow, that four second Springboard ad is epic!

Now, I heard something about a game trailer as well. Where do I go for that?

:)
Edit: Vid is ok now.
wow renegadepanda, i think my head exploded. the puns. the PUNS!
This is what happens when developers pool their resources and just dive into the potential that Kinect offers. They can relay all that they've learned from the Wii, except in a more freestyle environment.
Looks at Kinect collecting dust on entertainment center......

Worst case of "buyers remorse" sets in since paying $400 for Sega Saturn on launch day....
@mrandydixon i was pretty impressed as well, screw the trailer i want more springboard!!!
Oh yes, THIS is why I got into video games so many years ago.
Look mom, I'm swimming! I'm just like Michael Phelps now.
Press x to swim.
is it gonna have a bong packing mini game?
You've made it to the end of the pool! Now turn around and go back!

I hope they do a walking simulator next (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xl_ebBBYloo)
You are pretending to be a guy that is pretending to swim, is that the case?
At last, a Kinect game where I get to wave my arms around.
Will there be a coupon for Subway included?
As an NCAA swimmer, I gotta say

1. The game looks like utter shit
2. There's no way to make this feel like actual swimming at all. Air doesn't push back on you like water does and its actually a lot harder trying to flail around through air doing freestyle or whatever, ESPECIALLY standing up. And kick is so important to swim I can't see how they could possibly simulate that, gahhhhhhhhh nerd rage
3. I will probably play it once then throw it out in rage
4. I like that it looks like its going to use a Madden style stat system though...

Injustice: Gods Among Us dated for Wii U, 360, and PS3
