TGS: A better look at the slimmer PS3 and Vita new colors photo

Sony let us get a bit closer to the newly announced super slim PS3 model as well as the two new colors for the PlayStation Vita at their booth today.

In the gallery below you'll find both the black and white versions of the slimmer PS3, shot from the top, side and front. You'll also see some retail box shots and the matching base stands for each. Check out the front shot of the black PS3 -- it's so thin!

I really like the looks of both of the new red and blue Vita systems. The black buttons stand out against the new colors, and the rear touchpads look great. That said, I've included a shot of the white Vita, as I still think it's the best color.

Which colors are you down with?

But Nintendo proved white dosent sell. DOoooooOOOOOooOOOOooooom

Its always black or white consols... i want a green one
I want a pink one. Because real men wear pink.
Did Sony remove more features to make this super slim model?
I dislike how the color Vitas look. They aren't particularly great red/blue and the sides and buttons just stick out a little too much. The white one looks fine, though.
No one wants this
God, that blue Vita looks sexy as hell. I'm with Themaud, though. I want a green one. Just on the Vita though. A colored console would just look weird on my black entertainment center with all the other black consoles.
Looks like an air conditioner at first glance
What Nicholas Patrick said, does anyone know if they removed anything compared to previous models?.
@Nicholas Patrick,
no WiFi and also there's no disctray, you put your BD/DVD discs directly into the console so the console is much louder(not to mention whole thing looks like it's a fuckin 80s).
The Vitas look great. The new PS3 looks like it belongs in the Sears hardware department.
That's smaller? It still looks like a 2000 watt amp.
basically we have PS3:
Slim Edition, which is the current version,
Don'y Have Enough Money Edition which is this "Super Slim",

also no touch controls in "Super Slim".
Needs PS2 hardware inside, now that their sales are dropping even in Japan. History has shown people are willing to pay premium for it.

Also needs full Vita Remote Play capability. If there was even excuse to not have it before, there's none now. Take the date sent through HDMI/component and send it through wifi instead.

A rear USB would've been great, too.. So the Move camera doesn't have to be plugged in front with an ugly cable wrapped around...

Sofik - where the hell are you getting the idea that there's no wifi? I haven't find any information even mentioning it, but you repeat it both articles here.
@sofik88:
It does have wifi.
From eurogamer :

Networking - Ethernet (10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, 1000BASE-T) 1, IEEE 802.11 b/g, Bluetooth 2.0 (EDR)

Just keep on trying, you're bound to get something right eventually.
@sofik it has wifi and the ps3 has never had a disc tray... You are retarded sometimes...
@sofik88
it will have wifi and ps3 never had a disc tray.
also the current slim one doesn't have touch controls either. you're fucking stupid and a dork who doesn't even do the smallest amount of research.
I'm loving the new top load disc tray on the PS3. No more taking the whole thing apart or sending it out for service just to clean the Blu-Ray lens..
There are already two comments for you sofik88.

The Wii-U won't have a power cord at all too.
@ sofik88
Seriously? you don't even have to do research to know PS3 has never had a disc tray, i mean, have you ever SEEN one before? You clearly never owned one but really, at least i would think you have seen one in the store or something before. It's been out for like 6 years now..
Even worse, you just make blind accusations as if it were fact. You are trying to get me to believe that you have played one and know for sure that it is now really loud However, as i stated above - its clear you have never been within 15 feet of any of the previous iterations. Going forward, don't post.. you only make yourself look stupid.

Anyway, I am still a little confused on the disc tray change.. Now its like the PS2 slims was and top cover panel pops up? I was hoping for pics of it. New model is very nice looking though, glad to see they use partial gloss finish. I really like that on the Fat models. The old slims (?) look too much like toys.
They must have bought those broken 360's form ms and recycle them ;)
Every one of the Vita colors looks great. Don't know which one I'll choose when I finally spring for one.

The PS3 on the other hand? I thought the existing slim model was fine, and I don't like the cover panel mechanism. Looks kind of cool in action (it slides out of the way rather than popping up) but I'm concerned that it's just another thing that could break.
According to some responses on the Playstation blog, the disc cover slides to the left to reveal where you place the disc.

Ben Kuchera wrote a great article about how Sony pretty much screwed the pooch for this holiday. It's definitely worth a read.
http://penny-arcade.com/report/editorial-article/new-slimmer-more-expensive-sonys-decision-not-to-compete-this-holiday-seaso
That PS3 is ugly as all sin...
Oh Sofik, you're fanboy hate is inspirational.

You muppet.
I want a Purple or Orange Vita, not really feeling the new PS3, but since I already got a PS3 I don't need a new one.
If the white PS3 had...

...when you opened the disc-tray cover I'd all over that shit.

Way to screw the pooch Sony, looks like I'm sticking with the 360.
IGN says its NOISER than the PS3 slim! My PS3 slim makes a huge racket! Yes it is well ventilated all around.
@all the butthurt people,
jesus, the butthurt. i'm so incredibly sorry for not knowing how to call that "slotty" thing, whatever the profesional(or technical) name for it is. english is not my first language and frankly i really don't give a shit about knowing the technical terminology for different disc entry(?) or whatever you call it. probably i know it but, i don't remember it now and don't give a shit about it.

as for the "no WiFi" that's what i've read in news about new ps3 on different website.

everyone who tested new ps3 are saying that it's louder besides right now the disc is not covered by anything aside from that thin piece of cheap plastic compared to ps3 Slim where whole BD player was "inside" the console - you don't have to be a genius to figure that it will be much louder.
These PSV's look kind of... cheap? I mean I know they're probably made of reasonable plastic, but I don't like the look of them.

And the new PS3 looks specifically designed for Lady Gaga.
@sofik i think people respond to you that way because all you do is post on sony articles about things, and most of the time you don't have any of the right information. Any being a fanboy doesn't help your cause. I honestly don't care what consoles people think are better or whatever, but what irks me the most is misinformation and ignorance in any part of life.
The no WiFI was for 802.11 N. People were complaining that it still didn't support the "N" standard.
LOL@ sofik
I'm with some of the others who want to know whats actually in the new PS3 other then the size of the HDD..

If they've removed more features, we kinda need to know if any of us are really going to ever consider it as an option (either a first, for us super late comers; or a second for those wishing for a replacement)

@ME4Twaffle

I got that feeling too.. Honestly, its the same feeling that the base 3DS' supergloss finish gives me..

I know it should be a high quality device and all, but it *looks* like if you drop it it'll shatter into a million pieces.
Why does it look like a lighter?
So the "Super Slim" is what we're collectively agreeing this thing is called now?

Fair enough. I don't think it looks half bad, but I prefer the launch Slim models better. I also tend to like boxier hardware over rounded hardware. New Vita colors look nice too, but I'm a sucker for black electronics. Kinda bummed the AC: Liberation bundle comes in white. Doesn't look bad or anything, I just like black better.
love the ceramic white, but the new model is ugly as fuck :(
All trolling and fanboyism aside, it's gonna be interesting to see if this model manages to give them that sales boost the first Slim model did. They could've used a price cut, for sure. If this doesn't sell as expected, it's very likely there'll be one.
Other than that this is clearly aimed at people who haven't bought one yet and might be tempted. I like the first Slim's aesthetics better, but who cares. I'm still stuck with a chubby, and no complaints.

Also, Dtoid's image browser is shite. You can do better, Dtoid.
Is it supposed to be technically superior to the PS3 slim or just slimmer to look nice?
See I know console/handheld makers usually play it safe before colors can come out but meh.. early adoption seems to always be terrible for the fans.. too bad there's no trade in program that allows you to trade yours in for one of these.

By way of George, that is definitely it! If some sort of owner carries with it an identified consumer, we can add a sliding level discount over the success fee after awhile if this approach identified client becomes a buyer.If the person becomes this buyer right away the discounted is huge.If the deal closes soon after five months one's M&A; perform, the price cut has slid to be able to zero because we certainly have thrown him into your mix with a few other qualified prospective buyers and his offer are going to have been leveraged excessive by 25% plus.
The results to this business owner this particular approach are generally meaningful.Initially, if this is certainly that extraordinary occurrence of any legitimate buyer by using a legitimate deliver, the owner are not going to pay a massive success payment for a small number of work
