Podtoid 189: Sip The Coffee Of Racism

Podtoid 189: Sip The Coffee Of Racism photo

On a very romantic episode of Podtoid, Jim and Jonathan discuss the difference between humor and racism, as well as best way to deal with offended people. Our heroes also take a look at some of the hottest movies on the PS Vita video store, including such classics as Two Headed Shark Attack, Krull and Evil Bong 3: The Wrath of Bong

Elsewhere, Twisted Metal and Rhythm Heaven Fever get discussed, there's chat about romance in games, and an unpopular feature makes an unwelcome, half-hearted return. All this and more on Podtoid!

Great show.
Jim, these titles are getting ridiculous.
"Jim, these titles are getting ridiculous."

I only ever use direct quotes from the show, so don't blame me!

Especially this week. This week was a Holmes quote.
@Drewcifer000 You obviously haven't seen the other titles. :D

Looking forward to this one, hopefully it'll be extra romantic.
I loved the new version of "Jonathan Holmes I want to wear you LIKE A GLOVE". This time it included DIRTY BEEF which is brilliant. Loved the podcast and looking forward to Hamza joining in.
Yay one of my things got said. It gave me a good start to the day, allah knows its hard to get started some mornings.

Im happier than a coked up Holmes in a toy store.
Wait, they made sequels to Evil Bong?
Great podcast this week, although I'm sure your story about your brother probably did some mental damage Jim. Come to think of it podtoid as a whole has probably damaged me severely.
Interesting thought about being too aware of success. I agree that when developers try too hard to reinforce a meme or just outright duplicate their previous work that they run the risk of it feeling forced. Two examples I can think of where this happened are "The Hangover: Part II" and the Youtube series "Cautionary Tales of Swords". Although the latter mixed things up by episode three and kept from continuing down that stale road.

BTW, you should all watch "Cautionary Tales of Swords", especially if you like Tim & Eric-style humor.
F.k.... In the coffee
I have the same problem with action-rpgs as Holmes has with real-time strategy games. I like rpgs and I like action-adventure games, but mix them together and it's just a big no-no for me.

Also, I play rts-games wrong. I always make a gigantic army of the strongest units and when I'm done I just go around destroying everything I can find on the map with my ridiculously oversized army. So it's entirely possible to enjoy rts-games and not be strategic, although you usually have to play on the easiest setting.
I find listening to Podtoid while playing Pokemon takes the tedium out of leveling up. So thanks.
I appreciate this episode, made waiting 2 hours extra on an already delayed plane insignificant.
Decent episode, but it's probably my least favorite in awhile. I hope it was just this episode and the Holmes & Sterling duo isn't losing it's luster.

Also, a Beetlejuice sequel is in the works? Woah...
there's FK in my coffee.
Put the eggs in my mouth, Jonathan Holmes.
Mmmm ooohhh that's good coffee. Thanks Jolmes.
I think this is the only Podtoid I DIDN'T like. Scatalogy is a major turn-off for me :(
I love eating asses, and most of the time it tastes great. It's a mild musky taste, a lot like if you were to lick the inside of your own elbow. However, it is possible for the asshole to be unclean, and in that case, trace amounts of shit just ruin the experience. This pretty much doesn't happen at all, but it has happened once, and believe me, it tastes fucking horrible. It's the most repulsive "I want to tear my tongue out" taste ever.
Still in the middle of this one. My first ever Podtoid, by the way.
I have to say, Jim, you're comment about being taken seriously and dying: Bravo to you, sir. Bra...vo.

Flixist reviewed Silent Hill: Revelations 3D!

Impressions: New Super Mario Bros. 2 DLC #2

First-party Nintendo DLC is a weird concept indeed, but at this point, I'm starting to get used to it. Despite the fact that one of the three Coin Packs in the last set of New Super Mario Bros. 2 add-ons wasn't up to snuff, N...   more

Destructoid's 2012 budget desktop guide

Last year, in preparation for Battlefield 3, Alex Bout created a basic part list that could run the game with moderate settings and a solid frame rate. This year, I wanted to see how much further we could push the specs on more or less the same budget. I was pretty surprised by what I found.   more
