How one balls a beat in NBA Baller Beats

Conrad Zimmerman, Managing Editor

This sucks. I got excited when I noticed that there was a new video promoting NBA Baller Beats, ready to post it up with something derisive and vaguely resembling wit (it's a dark room). And then I watched it.

I can't be mean to Kenny "The Jet" Smith! The two-time NBA champ lays out the basic play of Baller Beats here and he's just so damn genuine about it that any desire I had to mock the game has evaporated. Oh, if only they'd dragged out that sequence with the balls a little bit longer, then I'd have had something to work with.

You win this round, Majesco!

Legacy Comments (will be imported soon)

I like how in depth he was getting about all the points you can get. SO MANY DELICIOUS POINTS.
Wow, this is...actually a good idea. Kudos go to Majesco for truly being innovative.
Wow, this is...

Oh, that was already said? Man, I like this. I might actually get it...
The whole "buying Twitter followers and then denying it" thing really turned me off from this one.
As somebody who doesn't care at all about basketball, I'm surprised to say that this actually looks like it could be fun.
I practiced my ball handling in front of Kinect once but I got self conscious and put a towel over it.

Anyways, this actually looks pretty fun.
People who live in apartments under people with this game are going to be PISSED.
Seems like a pretty effective way to accidentally smash a flat screen TV with a basketball.
These last two comments sum up a few possible problems playing the game brings. :)

Also, Kinect gets to witness moments where you (excuse the pun) balls up and bounce the basketball into your own groin.

Overall, I can't believe nobody thought of this before. After all the disappointing Kinect games, it is good to find one developer has a great idea for it.
How does one ball a beat?

Deep, son. One balls deep.

The Iconoclasts is back with another alpha, new trailer

I had given up hope on The Iconoclasts, the remarkable action-adventure game being developed by Konjak, thinking that it was too ambitious. In addition to having some rather lush pixel artwork, it showed quite a bit of promi...   more

Nintendo: Pikmin 3 is scheduled for a spring 2013 release

The new Iwata Asks column covers the Wii U GamePad in great detail from the perspective of the people who worked on it, but that isn't all that's mentioned. Showing that we ought to read all of those notes, one of them (via N...   more

The weapons of Assassin's Creed III

Or slice, crush, pierce, and generally murder. Assassin's Creed III's Connor appears to be even less subtle than his ancestors and not exactly what I would consider assassin material. He seems to make it work, however, so mo...   more

Chivalry: Medieval Warfare is out now on PC

Don't watch this launch trailer for Chivalry: Medieval Warfare if you're the kind of gentle soul who doesn't like seeing people's heads fall off. Fair warning: there's a decent amount of that in here. This first- and third-p...   more

Review: Naughty Bear: Panic in Paradise

Of all the games I never expected to get a sequel, Naughty Bear was pretty high on the list. Not only was it a bottom-shelf title from a studio not exactly known for its long-running franchises, it was pretty underwhelming. A...   more
