Podtoid 186: Cum Bastard photo

This week, Jim Sterling and Jonathan Holmes hold the fort to talk about hit modern musicians like Alien Ant Farm and Jason Donovan. We also chat about the impact of piracy and copyright law, Paula Deen's impact on the videogame industry, and a Predator that glows in the dark.

For something a bit more game-specific, we've got Resident Evil 6, Resident Evil: Revelations and the evolution of the survival horror genre for you to listen at. We manage to discuss it quite a bit before we laugh at more entitled manbabies and invent the world's great board game. The world's GREATEST!

As ever, you can subscribe to us on iTunes and RSSbuy our Android App or download directly!

dat title.
I want to play that board game...
Alien Ant Farm are hit musicians???
@KillersIntellect

They were, briefly, about 10 years ago.
You guys better not have talked about video games again, I hate when you do that.
Jim sterling comes in through your window, when he struck you, he assumed you were ready
Does cum burn your eyes?
I wish that much would come out :(

@nitex: id assume if it taste bitter and salty, but I am a bitter and salty person
Omg, nearly died when Holmes said it was the victim's fault. Thank you.
God, I love that picture. It's so damn hot.
^thanks for bringing the freaks out again guys. Really appreciate it.
I love you guys and I love this podcast but I really do miss the old days when you talked more about videogames. There's plenty of podcasts out there with second rate comedians riffing on sex and whatever but not many with second rate comedians riffing on videogames. Indoor Kids doesn't count because the people on that show are comedians first and gamers second. Jim you always have such interesting insight into games, I'd rather hear that than another joke about your penis. But I know it's free so I'll just shut the fuck up.
I'm with Dakilazical, but I think we're in the minority. Apparently numbers are higher than ever which kind of blows. Again, it's all free though.
What else is there to say about video games? I mean, really--you play 'em, sometimes they're good. Jim Sterling's penis is a new horizon. It's an adventure we can all go on together.
Poor woman, she spent so much time doing her makeup just to get it all sticky. Hope she does not get an eye infection.
Did Jonathan say "Randy Monster Man Savage" it sounded like it, made me laugh.
Another amazing episode of podtoid. Definitely get that Lee woman on there so she can be a part of the horror show.
I miss the Max and Jim madness that was Voldemort and Palpatine's Opium Den.
Thank God for Google image search, and Jim.
The Manbaby threads this week are fucking gold.
It needs more Maximilian Scoville!
With all due respect Holmes, I am pretty sure any robot out of Japan has some sort of memory tissue based anal replication.
Ok I'm not gonna go off on a long tangent on why I dislike Resident Evil anymore but for 2 things.

1.You guys mention how you think that people running and gunning is not realistic. Well. It kinda is... I was in the military and they teach you tactical "walk and shoot" movement while on foot through towns. Called MOUT. Even in COD when your running your reticule shoots wildly inaccurate but you can still shoot and you can look down your cross hairs while walking. I mean this is Chris Redfield. A guy whose part of an elite task force since the beginning. And Leon Kennedy. The dude who was selected above everyone else to go find the presidents daughter... If those guys can't "Walk and shoot" then nobody can.

2. You know when a zombie walks around a corner and you see it but it hasn't seen you. Your heart starts pounding a little... Then it turns and see's you and starts sprinting it's legs off to come eat your face. Your heart starts pounding more... Then when it gets to be about 10 feet from you and for some reason it goes to a complete slow paced walk... And you say "WTF" and your hard on is completely gone... The reason this happens is because they still after 5 games couldn't get the controls down enough to keep the game balanced and actually have the zombies run your ass into the ground. They stop and hobble... so you have plenty of time to line up your shots on them...

I know that there haven't been many good survival horror games lately. Silent hill hasn't been interesting since PS1... RE has had alot of the same quirkes since 1 or 2. Siren was meh, Tons of let downs all over... and you guys couldn't think of a good 3rd person survival horror game. What about Dead Space and Dead Space 2?... Didn't you like those? Those games had varied enemies. Amazing settings. Great level design. great universe. Mechanics like dismemberment, Zero G, zero air, were amazing. Good tension and scares. Sound was top notch(Astro a40's FTW). using tools instead of guns... Granted some of it was a little hokey but what story ever that involves being scared doesn't. Being cut off and alone. Having to go through the really bad area for a simple item. Children and babies. limited resources. Lots of cliches but overall they are the new standard for myself when it comes to survival horror.

Game had a great fictional universe with tons of great ideas and really fleshed out with the videos and comics. I really dig the fiction of DS.

This goes on into a long topic of Japanese vs western dev's that I could go on forever about but suffice it to say I feel Japan have been losing their touch for a long time and I really do hope RE6 can bring that old nostalgia back but I am kind all cashed out on everything that comes out of asia anymore bar fighting games...

Anyway Game on guys and sorry for being so long about this. Just wanna hear your thoughts.
You know Holmes, the original TMNT comics were dark and violent. To each their own, but the grittier, the better IMHO.
Alien Ant Farm are modern? Since when? When they first started 17 years ago?
@ TheEggplant- The original TMNT comics were the perfect combination of dark and light. They weren't all that violent though, not any more than the movie anyway.
Professor Cocaine sounds great.
"Fuck Dragon age!" Jim exlaimed. How dare jim insult my favourite game,my faith in humanity is gone! LOL. although if jim said fuck DA2 i would agree, DAO however is an amazing RPG,one of if not Biowares best ever game.
Gotta' say... I think this image would've made a better header image. Well, at least it's a more relevant header.

Destructoid's 2012 budget desktop guide

Last year, in preparation for Battlefield 3, Alex Bout created a basic part list that could run the game with moderate settings and a solid frame rate. This year, I wanted to see how much further we could push the specs on more or less the same budget. I was pretty surprised by what I found.   more
