New PlanetSide 2 trailer proclaims 'war is coming'

Sony Online Entertainment brought their upcoming MMOFPS PlanetSide 2 to gamescom this year, and with it a brand-new gameplay trailer called POWER. From what I could tell, the trailer's name has absolutely nothing to do with the actual content of said trailer. Which, by the way, shows off the games truly massive scale and Halo meets Battlefield gameplay in an MMO setting.

It also appears that SOE is gearing up to finally launch the beta, if the dialogue in the video is any indication. There's no date set in stone, but you may want to go sign up on PlanetSide 2's official website to assure you have a spot for when the floodgates do open. I know I'm signing up myself, as any game that lets you jetpack into a base to take it over with more than twenty of your teammates is a game I can definitely get excited for.

Legacy Comments (will be imported soon)

Drooling over the thought of 2000 player battles...
"Halo meets Battlefield"? Heh. That's adorable.
@Kyera
Having played the beta i'd say it's more like MAG meets battlefield with a dash of halo.
@Gundy

I meant that comment regarding the quoted comparison. It's kind of like Battlefield meets Battlefield 2142 meets this game that came out a while back called Planetside.
I'm SO excited for this. Oh man.
"Halo Meets Battlefield"?

... Hmm.... That leaves a bad taste in my mouth, but I can understand the comparison.

I have been in the Planetside 2 beta for almost a month now (I played the original Planetside since 2003)
and I can safely say that its shaping up to be a fun, impressive experience.
I would like to issue a warning for those eager to participate in the BETA...
You're going to encounter bugs, and lots of them. I believe thats the entire premise behind staging BETA's, specifically to quash bugs, tweak technical specifications and optimize content as opposed to simply showcasing the game. A LOT of people are complaining about their Frames-Per-Second, while not understanding that nothing has been optimized; the graphics, for example, need driver updates by ATI or Nvidia.

Overall, I'm enjoying the game very much and I hope everyone interested can have the opportunity to receive a BETA invite. I would love to talk more about the game, but unfortunately there's a NDA :(

If anyone is playing, my handle is AtrediesX!
I really need to get into PC gaming at some point.
Damn shame my current hardware won't be able to handle this. Suppose I still have some time to prepare though.

Quite a shame they're not using Kai Lim's early concept designs though. They looked much cooler than what I'm currently seeing. Had a neat hard sci-fi tactical vibe to it compared to the flashier space opera aesthetic I'm seeing now.

Rhythm'n'Bits is game-inspired music with a bit of class
