Keep telling yourselves "better late than never," PlayStation 3 users -- you're almost there! BioWare and EA are putting out the Mass Effect Trilogy for Xbox 360 and PC on November 6, 2012 for $59.99.

For PS3 players, the compilation will be coming "at a later date," though it's worth mentioning this won't be the only way for them to finally get their hands on the original Mass Effect. That will also be available as a standalone download from PlayStation Network.

The powers that be are planning to turn the day after launch, November 7, into "N7 Day." Naturally, no specifics were given on what this "celebration of the Mass Effect franchise" will entail.

Legacy Comments (will be imported soon)

Wonderful. Now I can relive the fight against Saren and load times in futuristic elevators once more.
man so i can now play the first game on PS3 finally???

also what about the DLCs??

hopefully they'll put ALL DLC's on disc so i don't have to worry about buying them each.

also will it the extended DLC ending already applied??

i think it would be cool if there's a toggle option where you can experience the "original" ending then turn it on to experience the "extended" version.

then again both endings are pretty much the same so i think Extended DLC ending is fine.

and wow Wii U version pretty much fucked up 1 game vs 3 game in the same price.

FUCKING EA
Be careful what you wish for. I don't think mass effect 1 worth going back to
also please use the ME2 engine for ME1 with the shooting mechanics also from ME2 :P
Hey, this is neat. All the games in one place. Like a sci fi nesting doll where none of the dolls are missing and your dad walks into your room and doesn't knock all your MacFarlane toys off the shelf but instead asks you how your day was and gives you a hug and then mom isn't dead but she's alive and cooks a dinner of hot dogs and potato chips and you all eat as a family and no one has a seizure.
I don't own a PS3, I have a 360 and a gaming capable PC, but I DO care. This should have been done since the beginning. Everyone deserves to play a decent game.
So BioWare and EA wish to have a "celebration" for the franchise they ruined? No thank you.
I don´t think the gonna do, but i really wanted some joypad suport to the PC, i tried the demo of the 2 and i didn´t like the controls.
As we have seen, rushing PS3 ports is a poor idea that is very unsatisfactory. I welcome a delay if it means we receive properly coded ports of high quality. The fact that Mass Effect #1 game never existed on the platform is reason enough for the delay, but I welcome any polish a delay might provide.
Might hold out to see a Wii U version, just to see if they can make ME1 just a smidge more bearable to play. If not 360, I guess, since its more expensive to get all three games used.

And hopefully, this includes all content rather than just the trilogy and DLC sold separately, otherwise there might be no point to a trilogy roll-up.
I've been DYING to play the original Mass Effect, but a 360 (or respectable PC) won't be in my budget for quite a while. This news makes me so, so happy.
I actually loved Mass Effect 1 the most. It had some quarks, but it was the best in terms of a great RPG with an amazing story. Too nad my PC copy is riddled with activation limits. It would be nice to have a non-DRM copy. Though something worries me this will still ship with it :/
Since it's coming out on PS3, there must have been a 5 year exclusive deal on the first game.

Also, Mass Effect 1 is my favorite of the series, since it's classic Bioware and a very well made RPG, unlike the other two, which are straight-up shooters.

Let's hope they use the PC version for the PS3 release.
.. been waiting for this. Figured they would put out the trilogy eventually. Haven't played any of the games yet, so I'll just pick this up when it releases.
I wonder if it will have any DLC bundled?
Will the PC version have origin attached to it and will the DLC be included?
The first one is a flawed masterpiece, but it's still my favorite game of this gen. I just replayed it (for like the fifth time) back in August. The frame rate is wonky, the inventory system is a mess, there's a lot of pop-in, and the shooting mechanic aren't as polished as ME2 and 3. But despite all that, it's an absolutely amazing game. You can actually customize your Shepard's abilities to suit how you want to play, areas like the Citadel are far more massive than they are in the subsequent games (probably part of the reason for the technical issues), Mako > planet scanning, and the story is brilliant.

If your main priority is the shooting mechanics, you're going to prefer the latter two games. But for me, Mass Effect and Skyrim are the only two titles from this entire gen that have made it into my all-time top 10. It's so damn good.
i have all 3 games on 360, but i will wait for Wii U version to replay it again with all the things they're adding to Wii U version of 3rd game it should be worth it.
Here are my thoughts for DLC

Mass Effect 1 only had two DLC packs, and only one of them matter (Bring Down the Sky) and I'm 100% positive Brig Down the Sky will come with all release

The PS3 version of ME2 came with all the DLC, sans Arrival. So there's no worry about that. The 360/PC version, I believe they'll be included via download cards, and the PS3 version will get a download card for Arrival.

Mass Effect 3 tho? I doubt it will include the DLC.
Still waiting on that Jade Empire sequel, though. Maybe next gen :-(
Oh cool! I got maybe 15 hours into ME-1 and half of it was in an elevator like Fugly Duckling said. The other half was people talking. But I'm still interested.
And, yes, I hope it has the original ending because I want to see what the deal is. Also want to see this indoctrination theory in effect because I hear the extended ending pretty much gets rid of it.
I want an Occams electric toothbrush Trilogy boxset.
@HEL105
Not to sound cynical, and I really mean that, but they would only screw that up too. All BioWare franchises released since their buyout have suffered under EA's control, all of them. We'd love to see Jade Empire get another game in the series, sure, but EA will do things, horrible things, to it.
Heh, that's funny. As recently as last week I was saying to people that at this point the only way I'd get into ME is if they put out a trilogy pack (ideally with DLC, although I'm told aside from Shadowbroker in ME2 none of it is really that important), but we all kind of agreed such a thing wouldn't come out for at least another year or two.
Considering how poorly 1 runs on 360 and how poorly 3 runs on PS3 I have little hope that either will be properly fixed extra dev time be damned.
HEAD DOWN EYES UP.
Getting ME1 for my PS3!!!
Kind of shot themselves in the foot with the Wii U version of ME3 now.
Will I be able to buy the stand alone ME1 and import my Shepherd to Mass Effect 2?

Will it be on psn for...$60?
Give me all the DLC packs and not have it tied to Origin, and you have a sale.

On the slight chance it could be eventually ported to Wii U (not that I expect it) you have a sale.
@CrazyCowboyDon: 3 runs poorly on the ps3? How so?
First one was the only one worth playing. I'll never understand how most folks liked the combat in 2 more. So sitting behind cover, having to reload, and wait for the entire biotics system to cool down rather than just the last one you used is fun?
Good, PS3 owners can finally play ME1, though at this point I'm questioning how many people will actually buy it. Buying the whole trilogy is a good deal, but I'd have to imagine most PS3 owners settled for the interactive comic they included with ME2.

Also, Wii U owners are getting hosed. Buying only ME3 for $60 when the other two consoles get all three for $60?
Amazing news. The price is also right.
@HEL105: You don't want to see a Jade Empire sequel. Bioware no longer exists. There is only EAware; Bioware transformed(indoctrinated).
If it has the DLC on disc for PS3 i'm down, also patches would be nice but honestly i'm not holding my breath.
Well I have 2 and 3 (and all the DLC), so I'm in for the standalone download. Guess the publishing deal with MS expired.
@JoeTheProYaKnow

"I actually loved Mass Effect 1 the most. It had some quarks, but it was the best in terms of a great RPG with an amazing story."

Agreed! Story-wise (and RPG-wise), ME1 is definitely the best of the series.
And there goes the WiiU. Again. Great work EA!
Ha, Wii-U. Looks like the third party support lasted all of -2 months.
wow, this is excellent news!
so they are taking the extra time to make sure it runs smoothly on the ps3. I'm really glad they aren't doing a rushed an sloppy conversion.
I've really missed the first game.
this is really smart because I WILL buy this. even after completing mass effect 2 and 3 twice within the past 6 months, I still yearn to play some mass effect.
I'm possibly a bit sad though... will they include the expansions? it's doubtful since the 3rd game has likely got some expansion yet to surface.
perhaps I'll get the download from the PSN and then get GOTY edition of ME3.
@tremault: are you implying <1hr. missions you download are expansions?
@JoeTheProYaKnow , @ANdy

I concur.... I've found that with most Bioware games tbh.... They start really strong, then fade under the yoke of EA.

After playing 2, when my xbox died, I figured I'd wait for this so I could go back and replay the whole trilogy with a paragon shep (was working it with my renegade) and this time I'll save ash, kaiden be damned.

Hope it includes DLC, I'll grab it on the 360 due to..... reasons? controller I guess..
Yeah I totally saw this coming. I might pick this up, since the Mass Effect trilogy is something that has intrigued me over these past few years.
Mass Effect 1: 8.5
Mass effect 2: 7
Mass Effect 3: ...
I'm ready to install Origin to play this on PC. All the DLC's without this convoluted system of Bioware Points etc...I'm finally going to be able experience this series I've been hearing for years =D
Hopefully Ubisoft will release an AssCreed 2 trilogy.
And for the Wii U.
@TheNopeMan
Mass Effect 3 on PS3 has serious framerate issues. It stays closer to 20fps than 30fps with frequent dips down to 15fps.
