E3: Virgin Gaming brings tournaments to Xbox Live

Microsoft is teaming up with Virgin Gaming to bring online gaming tournaments to Xbox Live. Arriving later in 2012, Xbox gamers will have the chance to participate in multiplayer tournaments to win real cash

Virgin Gaming is already hosting plenty of online tournaments, with the focus obviously being on sports games from the likes of EA and 2K. There's also titles like Battlefield 3, DiRT 3, and even Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood if they're more your style.

This could be a real interesting option when it comes to playing online gaming, maybe something that we might see more of on our own Friday Night Fights. Of course, it all depends on how well Microsoft integrates these Virgin Gaming tournaments into Xbox Live.

Legacy Comments (will be imported soon)

Sweet. I consider myself to be verging on the good/above mediocre side on battlefield 3 and wouldn't kind a crack at that tournament.
Im betting they never fully support it and as such it will be dropped after 4 months

latrell is my favorite new dtoid character until he wears out his schtick.
I'd love to see some sort of official dtoid structure for competitive gaming that finally works well and gets used.
I'm just way to good at fifa, what should I do with all that cash?
Dammit, I have Dirt 3 for the PS3...I hope Virgin extend this to that platform...otherwise I'm looking at shelling out for another copy...
"Virgin Gaming?" Yeah, I think I'd feel bad writing a joke about that...
This is a big step forward for this kind of thing. Why leave the console to set up matches? Makes sense for everything to be accessible from the same box!
