Wizorb arrives on PlayStation minis next week

Jordan Devore, PC Editor
12:00 PM on 07.19.2012

We knew that Wizorb was headed to the PlayStation Store as a minis title, but now we have a firm date for North America: Tuesday, July 24. It'll be playable on PS3, PSP, and "eventually" on Vita.

Wizorb is in the same vein as games like Devilish and Firestriker, so there's more to it than the relatively basic gameplay of bouncing a ball into blocks. Also, the animation was done by Paul Robertson (NSFW, but amazing); always a good thing in my book.

While we're on the subject, if you don't particularly mind which platform the game is on and are simply looking for a ridiculously low price, know that Steam has Wizorb for a mere $1.79 right now. It's hard not to recommend it to everyone at that price point.

Legacy Comments (will be imported soon)

Almost bought this on steam. Now I can just get it for free from plus (you know it'll happen). Sweet. More in my steam wallet.
Not a big Arkanoid/Breakout-fan but this looks pretty awesome. I should pick it up.
It's gonna be $3.99(?) in Mini form for non-Plus peeps. That's a pretty decent price, actually, considering you can play it on multiple devices.

But the Steam version's got Mac support, achievements, leaderboards, and all that good stuff too, so I'm diving in on there. And even if it drops later to 75% off, I won't be too angry that I "wasted" $0.80 cents.
Awesome game, until you get to the maddening later stages. Will easily be the best Minis game when it hits the platform.
Wow, so the psvita will eventually have games? They should have their shit together by this time, there's no excuse for not having the game vita compatible on day 1
I really had fun with this game on Xbox, and I'd definitely recommend it to people who enjoy Arkanoid-type games. It does get pretty damn rough toward the end, though.
Guess I'll get it on Steam for that price, though it's hard to imagine it comparing to Shatter, which was freaking amazing ($2.49 on Steam now)

Though it looks like a different take on things... I'm imagining Wizorb is to Breakout what Puzzle Quest is to Bejeweled?
Portablity on my PSP would be pretty neat so I might get this on PSN even though I can get it cheaper on PC. On the topic of Minis I've been playing Pix'n Love Rush and it's pretty dope.
Jinx, I think that's the right comparison. It takes the basic formula and piles on extra layers of strategy and light RPG elements. More weapons, tricks with the ball, that kind of thing.

If you liked Shatter and have a fondness for NES-era graphics, definitely go for it.
Groovy, thanks Char!
