Nintendo 64

The Nintendo 64 (N64) was the first Nintendo console designed to use 3D graphics, and it was the most powerful console on the market at the time. The system used carts instead of the increasingly popular CDs, which meant there were no loading times, but it also created other issues for developers, such as a lack of storage for music, video or textures.

Announced around the release of the system was the Nintendo 64 Disk Drive (64DD), a disk system that allowed players to buy expansion disks for their games. The system suffered multiple delays until it received a muted Japan-only release in 1999.
