Worker killed at BP L.A.-area refinery

Ya'll need to shut the front door, and wait to see what happened. It could totally have been employee error, and not the fault of BP.

For those of you educated or fortunate enough to be able to turn down a job in the oil industry, good for you. However, in these economic times a lot of people are taking risky jobs because they need to feed their families. It might not be the ideal job, but it puts food on the table. My condolences to this man's family and friends.

I just completed a little project down at the BP Carson plant located at 22600 S. Wilmington Ave.
Talk about safety conscious! Every construction employee is required to watch an intensive 10 minute safety video that is followed up by an 8 question test. Yep, 8 multiple choice questions. But there's no need for the employee to fear because there is nobody to check the test anyway. They simply go out with the trash.
But BP takes safety seriously. In fact it is second only to production, profits, cronyism, more profits, cost reductions, more profits......................

For all of those that believe BP is the problem, 4 People were recently killed at a Chevron (An American company) refinery in Wales (United Kingdom). In 1988 the worst accident was in the North Sea, off the coast of Scotland (United Kingdom), 165 People were killed including 2 of my relatives. The owner /operator of the rig was Occidental Petroleum an american company, when it comes to oil accidents the real problem is a lack of oversight, safety inspections and expertise by government. The Oil companies spread enough money around and get favorable regulatory standards, The issue we need to fix is governmental oversight.

Great idea Liber, but one problem... BP oil fields bring oil into terminals which mix their oil with everyone elses oil. Then it flows via pipelines to various refineries. BP refineries supply oil to various BP and other companies.

You need to boycott all oil. This means you cannot have a motor vehicle. You must eliminate all plastics from you house as they come from oil. Chances are your food that you are eating is transported to the store via BP oil. Remember you need to boycott Exxon/Mobile and Citgo too.

Must be a slow news day to report this.

Just another reason BP needs to be seriously fined and brought down many notches from a Federal suit. Perhaps even kicked out of the U.S. - let someone else with a better track record take over their operations...

Proud consumer of ZERO BP products since the Gulf oil spill. Gonna be a heritage to my progeny that I teach my kid to boycott BP and he'll teach his kids and so on in perpetuity. Also voting against any politicians I hear are taking BP donations or businesses that associate with them.
