KEETMANSHOOP - THE TOWN

Keetmanshoop, the administrative capital of the Karas Region, lies strategically at the convergence of main roads from the south, north, east and west. It is also an important railhead on the lines to Windhoek, Luderitz and South Africa. Direct and easy access to these important players in the Namibian economy, supported by excellent infrastructure and services make Keetmanshoop an important investment consideration.

Keetmanshoop is surrounded by “southern Namibian wide open tranquilizing land of space”. Here, the vast plains stretch away into the distance until they melt with the horizon, giving you the resident and the visitor the peace of mind.

Dominating the scenery are the imposing canyons scattered hills, Island Mountains and plains complete the mosaic of landscapes. Dolerite boulder outcrops, locally referred to as the “Vratteveld” on account of their warty and knobbly appearance are characteristic of the scenery around Keetmanshoop.

As such it is an ideal base from which to explore the many scenic attractions of southern Namibia, especially when traveling into the country from the south, with accommodation options ranging from good hotels, guest farms, guest houses and camping sites with excellent facilities.

Genuine southern hospitality, perhaps a result of man’s adaptation to remoteness and space, can be experienced by the resident and the traveler.
