-- NYC Rallies to Support Homeless and Foster Children on November 15, 2009 --
LOS ANGELES -- The Burgett Group (TBG), a Los Angeles-based boutique public relations and marketing firm, signs Children Mending Hearts (CMH)--a global 501(c)3 non-profit arts exchange foundation that enhances
250 New York homeless children and 150 foster children and their families, as well as celebrities, community volunteers and civic leaders are slated to attend. During the workshop, each American child will paint a t-shirt for a refugee child in the Democratic Republic of Congo, which CMH founder and executive director Lysa Heslov will personally deliver during the organization's 2nd Annual Arts Exchange Program in Africa, January 2010.
"Please Mr. President" Workshops nurture child development and the next generation of global citizens by empowering children to be of service to others across the globe that have the same hopes, fears and dreams. The workshops, letters and art will be featured in PSAs, a documentary chronicling the struggles of these children, as well as a special children's book slated for release in 2010. Royalties from any projects will benefit the participating children. CMH also has an educational partnership with Scholastic InSchool for the development of year-round after-school workshop programs for 68,000 U.S. Middle Schools.
Partners for the Manhattan event include Common Ground, DoSomething.org, NYC Department of Homeless Services, New York Cares, StandUp For Kids and STEPS to End Family Violence. Sponsors include BLS Limo, Diva Limo, Famous Famiglia, Hint Water, Morgans Hotel Group (Hudson New York), The Switch Beverages, Virgin America and Zico Coconut Water.
