Accessibility

Vancouver Pride Society and Qmunity's Generations Project have been working in partnership to make the Pride Parade & Festival more accessible for people living with chronic health conditions and/or disabilities, and for older folks and seniors.

Parking

There will be accessible parking spaces on Pride Day at the Jervis Loop (at Beach & Jervis) for people with disabilities or mobility challenges. You must reserve a parking space in advance and arrive before 11:30am!

To reserve a Parking Space, call The Generations Project at 604-684-8449 or email: chris.morrissey@qmunity.ca

Viewing Areas

Three areas will be blocked off for people with disabilities wanting an unobstructed view of the parade. Each of these areas will have 20 courtesy chairs as well as limited space to accommodate people with wheelchairs and scooters.

1) The area at Jervis Loop (at Beach & Jervis).

2) The area outside the West End Community Centre.

3) The area outside the Robson Street Public Market (Robson & Cardero).

Washrooms

Accessible portable toilets will be provided at two of the accessible viewing area: at the Jervis Loop and outside the Robson Street Public Market. The washrooms at the West End Community Centre are available for people at that location. There will also be two on the Festival grounds. There will  be monitors at the Robson Market washrooms.

Rest Area

A tent will be set up next to The Centre's booth during the festival (2pm - 6pm) for people in need of a quiet space or a place to sit.

Volunteers Needed

Volunteers are needed to support these important accessibility initiatives - viewing area monitoring, information and assistance.

If you have a couple of hours between 10:30am to 2:30 pm on Pride Day and want to help out, contact Chris 604 684-8449 at Qmunity.
