2 Jan 1984 The 419th Tactical Fighter Wing begins conversion to the F-16, becoming the first AFRES F-16 unit. (Read more...)
12 Jan 1984 The 419th Tactical Fighter Group is activated at Hill AFB, Utah, becoming the first USAF Reserve F-16 unit.

14 Mar 1984 USAF pilot Dean Stickell is the first to reach 1,000 hours on the F-16.
