General F-16 News



Osan Airmen and aircraft supporting exercise Commando Sling 10 returned home recently, following three weeks of valuable training with the Republic of Singapore Air Force at Paya Lebar AB, Singapore.
Pakistan has been negotiating to get another lot of 14 F-16 block 52 aircraft, Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman said Saturday.
The 52nd Component Maintenance Squadron's propulsion flight is responsible for facilitating maintenance for the F-16's engine around the clock. Members of the flight supply engine support for the 52nd Fighter Wing, as well as any F-16's going downrange.
The Common Configuration Implementation Program, or CCIP (pronounced C-Sip) as it is commonly known, is the largest modification program ever undertaken on the Falcons. A CCIP rollout ceremony Friday, March 26, in the 309th Flight Test Building 233 will be held at 1 p.m. to mark the occasion.

As their F-16 Fighting Falcon pulled into its parking spot on the airfield, the dedicated crew chiefs from the 34th Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Unit had something to be proud of: tail number #89-2119 had returned from its 30th code 1 sortie over the skies of Afghanistan, March 23, 2010.
The 35th Fighter Wing, Misawa Air Base, Japan, won the Colombian Trophy for military flight safety achievement. The wing had a most impressive year, flying more than 16,000 hours and 8,000 sorties with no Class A, B or C mishaps.

Hill will lose 24 F-16s

According to the Standard-Examiner. The 34th Fighter Squadron at Hill Air Force Base will deactivate this coming summer. Plans are in progress to reduce Hills fleet of F-16s from 72 to 48 aircraft.
The 77th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron became the first squadron to use a new satellite communication capability for F-16s in Operation Iraqi Freedom Feb. 19, 2010.

Aerial demonstration pilots received certification February 4, from Gen. William Fraser III, commander of Air Combat Command, and their performances are now ready for the 2010 air show season.
