Shigeru Miyamoto Why Is He Famous?
Miyamoto has personally provided millions upon millions of couch potato kids with billions upon billions of hours of entertainment in the form of video game classics like Donkey Kong, The Legend of Zelda and Star Fox for Zelda. Some people call him the Father of Modern Video Gaming. Others just call him Mr. Fun.
Shigeru Miyamoto Biography
Shigeru Miyamoto was born on November 16, 1952, in Kyoto, Japan. He spent his formative years developing a love of nature and art, combining the two interests with pictures he painted of landscapes around his home. After graduating from the Kanazawa College of Art, he went to Nintendo to be an apprentice as a staff artist in the planning department.
Shigeru Miyamoto, then a staff artist, consulted with some of the staff engineers and came up with a plan. His game, called Donkey Kong (for which he also composed the music), fulfilled the request and then some. It became a landmark achievement not just as an arcade game, but on the console format as well.
In March 2005, Miyamoto he receive a star on the Walk of Game, which is located in a section of San Francisco's Metreon Center and is modeled on Hollywood's Walk of Fame.
And in March 2006, Miyamoto received the French honor of Chevalier ("Knight") by being inducted into the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. He was named Time magazine's Most Influential Person of 2008.
