Global Village is Habitat for Humanity's international volunteer programme. Since the Global Village Programme began in Northern Ireland in 1999 over 200 teams have built homes alongside families in some of the world's most vulnerable communities. This year over 20 Global Village teams are travelling from Northern Ireland. Teams include groups from churches, schools, universities, companies and other community organisations.
It takes enthusiasm and motivation to put together a Global Village team, but the rewards for your group make it all worthwhile. For most people it is working alongside the new homepartners and sharing their joy and hope that provides the greatest impact. The Global Village journey usually begins 12 months before departure and is designed to help every volunteer understand better the challenges faced by the communities they will visit and the part they will play in tackling global poverty and inequality.
You can decide as a group where you would like to build - staff will provide all the information and support you need.
For more information on putting a team together please get in touch with Jan Lindsay on 9024 3686 or email janl@habitatni.co.uk
If you don't have enough people to make up your own team, we also provide Global Village Open Teams that are open to anyone.
