Frequently Asked Questions

What is BlogBurst?

Pluck's BlogBurst network is an opt-in aggregation and syndication service that brings high-quality, topical blogs together with high-traffic web sites. With BlogBurst, bloggers gain visibility, audience reach and traffic through placement on major online publishers and media destinations in real time.

How does BlogBurst work?

Just sign up and tell us about your blog, then keep blogging as usual.

  • We promote your blog in our publisher workbench
  • Our top-tier publishers display your blog content on their sites
  • Clicks on your byline drive referral traffic to your blog

To streamline the content selection process, the BlogBurst editorial staff also identifies and pre-packages preferred blogs and posts in prepared channels called BurstWires for popular topics.

What do bloggers get out of this?
  • Visibility and exposure on major news and portal sites
  • Traffic through attribution and links back to your blog
  • Monetary rewards for top bloggers
  • Authority and credibility within your topic area
  • New readers who wouldn't normally find out about your blog
What is the plan to share the wealth?

We rolled out the BlogBurst Rewards Program in Q4, 2006 with the first payouts going to bloggers on a quarterly basis. Details are available in the Rewards Program FAQ, but in short we provide significant payouts to bloggers at the top of the BlogBurst leaderboard, which tracks pickups across the publisher using the BlogBurst service.

How does BlogBurst differ from other blog networks?

BlogBurst is not a competitor to other blog networks. It is a distribution and matching service designed to widen your blog's reach and drive traffic to your blog regardless of other affiliations you may have.

Is there some sort of exclusivity here?

No. You are simply incorporating your blog into the BlogBurst network to drive awareness and traffic by exposing your blog to publisher partners' audiences. You are free to work with other networks or otherwise leverage your blog to its fullest extent.

Who owns my blog and content?

Your blog, your content and your name remain yours. There are some licensing terms you have to agree to when signing up for this opt-in service in order for your content to be displayed on partner sites.

What are the requirements for blogs?

Requirements for acceptance into the BlogBurst network:

  • At least weekly posting
  • Family-friendly language and content
  • Distinct, intelligent writing style

At this time BlogBurst requires each blog to have an XML syndication feed in a standard format such as RSS, RDF, or Atom (most blogging platforms generate usable feeds automatically). You can find more information on Wikipedia regarding RSS feeds and XML formats.

See our Editorial Guidelines for more information.

How will publishers use my blog and its content?

Publishers will display your blog's content on their site as they would any of their normal pages, all the while promoting your brand, message and referrals. Display of your blog or your blog posts on any BlogBurst network publisher site requires a full byline, complete with a URL for your site, defined by you when you set up your blog. This is part of how we ensure the network is balanced and valuable to both bloggers and publishers.

What does BlogBurst do for me in all of this?

BlogBurst helps promote your blog to publishers for display on their sites, and handles blog profile management, syndication, blog promotion and discovery, copyright management and a full complement of tracking and reporting tools for bloggers and publisher partners alike.

BlogBurst hosts all of your articles on the publishers' sites to help manage your page view costs. We also have a staff of editors who recruit bloggers and help them get the most from the network.

What happens if I want to leave the network?

There is no obligation to remain a part of the BlogBurst network and you may remove your blog at any time.

How do I sign up?

If you would like to add your blog to the BlogBurst network, request an invitation. BlogBurst editors will review your blog to see if it meets our publishers' needs and contact you with more information.
