Sevens - Fixtures Modification

Some changes have been done to the schedule of the Sevens European Championship 2009. Romania, which should played the first stage of the competition in Sopot (Poland) will play the second tournament in Athens (Greece). This exchange is made with Georgia.

A new change has been done to the schedule of the European Sevens Championship 2009. Andorra, which should played the second (Athens) and third (Split) stages of the competition will not take part to the competition. They will be substituted by Cyprus.



Portugal
Sevens - A successfull start for Portugal
The first stage of the Sevens European Championship took place on last May 16 and 17 in Sopot (Poland).
Main favourite of this tournament but of the competition as well, Portugal did not miss this first meeting. On the side of the Baltic Sea, the Lobos did a course without fail, winning easily all their matches. With a total of 295 points scored in six games they are start with the best way this campaign 2009 and are now practically qualified for the Hanover Final Tournament (Germany) in next July if they are successfull during their second stage in Ostrava (Czech Republic).

We can also underline the good performance of Poland, which at home finish this first stage at the second place ahead Georgia and Sweden.

The next step of the Championship will take place on May 23 and 24 in Athens (Greece) and where three top-ranking unions will play: France, Romania and Spain.
