Leave it to MTV to be crafty enough to make the most of its leftover dusty footage. The network has announced that they will be airing "bonus episodes" of "The Hills" starting in March. MTV wants you to really understand that these episodes are NOT part of season five, they are just extra scenes from season four.
We're really glad they cleared that up because we wouldn't want to confuse a season
four episode of
Lauren Conrad flipping out over nothing with a season
five episode of
Lauren Conrad flipping out over nothing. (What the eff is the difference?)
MTV has already released a trailer for the bonus episodes and it definitely looks as if they are just as chock full of drama as those that filled the regular season. The trailer shows estranged best friend,
Heidi Montag, crashing Conrad's birthday party, and later, it shows Heidi sobbing, telling Lauren that her life will never be the same without her and that her favorite memories are her memories with Lauren. (Interesting how Montag managed to get in a few years of making the talk show rounds bitching about Lauren under her belt before reaching that conclusion.) After Heidi's tearful declaration, the two girls sob and hug. Clearly, MTV never planned
not to show us this, they just didn't want to blow their metaphorical reality television wad too early.
The trailer also shows Spencer Pratt flirting with a bartender, calling her dirty, and then getting in a fight with a guy at a bar who tells Heidi about it. It also shows the bartender calling him out on it, telling him he wasn't acting like a guy who was engaged or even had a girlfriend.
Congratulations again on your marriage, Heidi. We're sure the two of you will be happy together for years...as long as nobody ever tells you what Spencer's like when you're not around.
Anyway, will you watch the bonus episodes of "The Hills" and then lie to your friends about the fact that you watched? Of course you will! Yup, us too. Well played, MTV.
