What Barefoot offers is a high (compared to many other firms) hourly rate (none of our employees are salaried) as either an employee or a contractor, at your option. (We do ask that if you want to be a contractor, you have your own company. This keeps us out of trouble with the IRS.) You'll get to deal with friendly, honest people who will be very straight with you about margins and other money matters. We have a pretty good library of technical books, and we're always adding more. For our employees, we offer a small (but significant) commission based on the difference between what you get paid and what we charge for your services.

We'll give you an email account and web page space on our server if you need it. We offer cash bonuses and stock options to both employees and contractors that stay with us for a while. And, most importantly, we work with you to be constantly looking for new challenges and better pay for you as you grow in the computer profession.

There are a few things we can't offer you, though. We don't have an extensive benefits package, for instance (we offer health care benefits to you at a group rate and we pay a small monthly percentage of that rate). We don't guarantee work: if the work dries up, we can't pay you anything until more work comes along. We also don't offer paid vacations or sick time.
