Raising Concerns Policy

The Council is committed to the highest standards of openness and accountability. In line with that commitment, we encourage members of the public, who have serious concerns about any aspect of the Council's work to come forward and voice those concerns.

As a member of the public you may have concerns that there is something seriously wrong within the Council. However, you may not express your concerns because you feel it is easier to ignore your concerns rather than report it.

The raising concerns policy is designed to establish a procedure for members of the public to raise their concerns with confidence that they will be addressed.

Concerns to be reported under this policy may relate to

  • Fraud or financial irregularity
  • Corruption, bribery or blackmail
  • Criminal offences
  • Failure to comply with legal or regulatory obligation
  • Improper use of authority
