Electoral Services - performance and standards

This page includes details of our service standards, how we are performing against those standards, and results of benchmarking we have carried out with Electoral Services in other local government authorities.

The Cost of running Electoral Services

In 2007/08 the cost of running Electoral Services was £1,427,584. In Leeds there are currently 545,230 electors which is a total cost of £2.69 per elector.

The increase in costs are due to:-

(a) An increase in electorate of 1.16% (545,230)

(b) A Polling District review (Electoral Administration Act 2006) took place in 2007/08 and the cost of this was £40,000 which is included in the overall costs above.

In 2006/07 the cost of running Electoral Services was £1,411,214. For this period there was 539,000 electors which was a total cost of £2.62 per elector.

Unfortunately there are no comparative figures available from the other West Yorkshire Metropolitan Councils'.
