A vehicular crossing is an area of lowered pavement and kerb which is used to give access to vehicles from a road across the footway and onto a driveway or parking area.
It is against the law to drive across a public footway without an authorised vehicular crossing, as damage will be caused to the footway or services underneath.
Leeds City Council’s Enforcement team investigates complaints regarding vehicles crossing footways and kerbs and takes action to resolve any issues.
The council does not undertake construction of vehicular crossings.
You will need to find a contractor to build a vehicular crossing. A good place to start is in the Yellow Pages under the heading “Paving Services”. The price for the work is between you and the contractor, however a standard vehicular crossing should cost well under £1000. Leeds City Council will give permission for a vehicular crossing to be built and will inspect and approve the built crossing as to specification and legal. A single £15.50 administration fee is the only charge from Leeds City Council.
