THE PUBLIC AUTHORITY FOR INDUSTRY (PAI)


Industry is one of the most important sources of national income and the main pillar of economy of the state of Kuwait. In light of vital importance of industry, the Public Authority for Industry (PIA) was established in 1996 by Industry Law No 56, Article 27, 1996. It became effective on January 15, 1997.

PIA aims to develop and grow industrial activity in the country and supervises it to achieve the goals of the national economy, which include the following:

To encourage the development and protection of local industries.
To expand the industrial and workshop production base.
To diversify the sources of national income.
To support, develop and encourage the production of required strategic commodities for food and national security.
To enhance industrial awareness among citizens.
To coordinate between existing industries and proposed ones within the GCC countries, in particular, and Arab countries, in general, to achieve cooperation and avoid harmful competition.
To strengthen industrial cooperation with different countries and international organisations
To provide necessary experience and information for local industrial development.

The authority supervises the administration of the three industrial sectors of the State of Kuwait:

The Southern Sector:
Shuaiba Industrial Area - the Eastern and Western areas.
Fahaheel Industrial Area.
East Ahmadi Industrial Area.
Highway road west of vocational area.

The Middle Sector:
Subhan Industrial Area.
Ardhiya Industrial Area.
Sulaibiya Industrial Area.

The North Sector:
Amghara Industrial area.
Jahra Industrial Area.
Ship repairing area / Doha.
