Jamie Gillies's take: "Those who have read Ian McEwan’s brilliant novel will feel a slight twinge of being cheated out of the epic they might have expected."
Brian Webster's take: "The story includes too many twists, resulting in a sense of contrivance by film’s end. Yet this is still a decent, serious film that’s capably directed and very nicely acted."
This National Geographic documentary follows the adventures of a walrus and a polar bear as they do their thing living in the deep arctic. It all sounds pretty idyllic, except that nature is actually quite harsh and, unfortunately, the ice is melting. Queen Latifah narrates this follow-up from the makers of The March of the Penguins.
The consequences are huge when a 13-year-old falsely accuses her older sister’s boyfriend of a terrible crime. James McAvoy, Keira Knightley, and Brenda Blethyn star in this drama based on Ian McEwan’s novel.
Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig star in this science fiction thriller about a psychiatrist who discovers the cause of an alien infection that’s spreading like wildfire. It seems that maybe her son could play a role in bringing the crisis to an end. Directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel.
Cuba Gooding Jr. and the Daddy Day Care team are back, this time following the trials and tribulations of a nit-wit dad who’s been put in charge of a summer day camp for kids. Directed by Fred Savage.
Dan Jardine's take: "A brilliantly realized, acidic satire of American political life. It takes us into a strange, hallucinatory world that is hard to shake, long after the movie is over."
Brian Webster's take: "Beautifully filmed, brutally frank, and forceful in its political message – in support of active peacekeeping – this is a powerful film that’s not to be missed."
CC Baxter is a much put-upon office worker who hopes to trade favours for promotion. Billy Wilder’s follow-up to Some Like it Hot is a cynical and unfulfilling look at office politics and sexual mores that won five 1960 Academy Awards.
Vengeance is the topic of the day when a woman (Jodie Foster) who has been brutally attacked - and whose fiancee has been killed - sets out to even the score. Terrence Howard also stars in this film from director Neil Jordan.

A young and nerdy inventor-kid is swept away to the future, where he must think fast to help save the world from having its space-time continuum messed with. Adam West and Angela Basset are among the voice talent.
Young Caligula Caesar (Malcolm McDowell) comes to the throne of Rome as it slides into decadence and disarray. Peter O’Toole, Helen Mirren and John Gielgud also star in this controversial -- and in its day, scandalous – film.
