Best Alternative Sports Game

The alternative sports genre has been dominated by board sports in the past--if you can catch the sport on ESPN2, the corresponding game would probably show up in this category. But as the Tony Hawk knockoffs have died away, we've seen a new school of alternative sports games take their place. These games take the underlying rules of established sports and strip out all the pomp and circumstance of a televised sporting event, replacing it with over-the-top gameplay elements and a rawer style.
