AFL Anti-Doping Code2006 Anti-Doping Code 4mb (amended January 1, 2006). ASDA AFL Anti-Doping Code 704kb
The AFL’s new Code will apply to all drug testing carried out during 2006. In adopting a WADA compliant Code, the AFL now prohibits all substances and methods which are contained in WADA’s Prohibited List (as it is amended from year to year). The Prohibited List appears as an appendix to the AFL’s Code. This means that some substances which were previously not prohibited under the AFL’s old anti-doping code (eg cannabinoids) will now be banned under the new Code and hefty penalties will apply to players testing positive to these substances on match-day. A summary of the AFL’s Code and associated drug testing procedures is contained in a presentation delivered by the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority (ASADA) and the AFL Medical Officers at the Induction Camp and each AFL Club in January – February 2006. A copy of this presentation can be downloaded here . It is the responsibility of each player to comply with the AFL Code. Players should always check with their club doctor before taking medication, substances or supplements.
ASADA is an Australian Government organisation established in 2006. ASADA has assumed the Australian Sports Drug Agency's (ASDA) testing, education and advocacy roles. ASADA also incorporates the functions of the Australian Sports Drug Medical Advisory Committee (ASDMAC).
