World Cup officials banned from Twenty20
The five cricket officials -- including South Africa's Rudi Koertzen -- who caused the final overs of the Cricket World Cup final in Barbados to be played in near darkness have been banned from officiating in the World Twenty20 tournament in South Africa in September.

Collingwood England's new one-day captain
Paul Collingwood was named on Friday as England's new one-day captain and put in charge of a new-look squad for the upcoming series against the West Indies. The Durham all-rounder replaces Michael Vaughan, who has opted to concentrate on his role at the helm of the Test team.

England beat West Indies by seven wickets
England beat the West Indies by seven wickets in the fourth and final Test at Riverside Stadium on Tuesday, a result that saw them win the series 3-0. England, set 110 for victory on the last day, finished on 111-3 with captain Michael Vaughan 48 not out and Paul Collingwood five not out.

Collingwood ton gives England the edge
Paul Collingwood's hundred on his Durham home ground left England with the advantage in the fourth and final Test against the West Indies on Monday. At stumps on the fourth day, the West Indies -- after Matthew Hoggard had reduced them to 15-2 -- were 83-3 in their second innings, a deficit of 30 runs.

Vaughan quits as England one-day captain
Michael Vaughan resigned as England's one-day captain with immediate effect on Monday. But Vaughan, in a statement issued by the England and Wales Cricket Board after close of play on the fourth day of the fourth Test against the West Indies, said he would continue as a one-day international cricketer.

Edwards rocks England as Windies fight back
Fidel Edwards stunned England as the West Indies took charge of the fourth and final Test at the Riverside Stadium on Sunday with three late wickets. At stumps on the third day England were 121-4 in reply to the tourists' first innings 287, a deficit of 166, after danger man Kevin Pietersen was out for nought to the last ball of the day, caught behind off Edwards after under-edging a pull.

Pakistan closes chapter on Woolmer
Pakistan's cricket chief said on Wednesday it was time for the national team to move on after Jamaican police revealed that coach Bob Woolmer was not murdered after all, and died of natural causes. Nasim Ashraf, chairperson of the Pakistan Cricket Board, said he was glad to see the end of a "traumatic" three months.

    Red-faced Indian cricket officials resumed a desperate hunt for a national coach on Tuesday after first-choice South African Graham Ford turned down the high-profile job. With Rahul Dravid's men due to embark on a four-month foreign tour next week, time is running out to find a successor to Greg Chappell.

    Pakistan hope for end to Woolmer torment
    Pakistani cricket chiefs said they hoped an expected announcement on Tuesday by Jamaican police on the death of Bob Woolmer would show that their former coach was not murdered. Jamaica's police commissioner Lucius Thomas is expected to announce that Woolmer died of natural causes.

    England beat the West Indies by 60 runs to win the third Test at Old Trafford on Monday and go an unbeatable 2-0 up in the four-match series. West Indies, set what would have been a record fourth-innings victory total of 455 to win, were bowled out for 394. Left-arm spinner Monty Panesar took 6-137 for a match haul of 10-187 in total.

    South Africa's Graham Ford has turned down the post of India's new national cricket coach and decided to stay with Kent, his county club said on Monday. Ford was selected for the job by India's coaching committee after an interview in Chennai on Saturday, pipping fellow candidate and former England spinner John Emburey.

    Fernando fires Asia to series-clinching win
    Fast bowler Dilhara Fernando grabbed four wickets as Asia clinched the Afro-Asia cricket series with a 31-run win over Africa in the second one-day international in Chennai on Saturday. Asia restricted their rivals to 306 under lights after posting a challenging 337-7 to gain an unbeatable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

    Cricket World Cup co-hosts to discuss shorter event
    The India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh cricket boards will discuss the possibility of reducing the duration of the 2011 Cricket World Cup. Officials from the four South Asian Test-playing nations, who will co-host the next World Cup, will meet in Pakistan on June 18, a senior Pakistan Cricket Board official said.

    Ian Bell held firm for England against a revived West Indies on the first day of the third Test on Thursday. At stumps, England were 296-7, having started the final session on 167-5 at Old Trafford after West Indies, 1-0 down in the four-Test series, had enjoyed a rare spell of dominance.

    South African Ray Mali was named as acting president of the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Thursday following the death of Percy Sonn last month. Mali, president of Cricket South Africa since 2003, will take on the role for 13 months until the ICC's 2008 annual conference, the world governing body said in a statement.

    The International Cricket Council (ICC) board has unanimously approved a recommendation for Cricket South Africa to nominate an acting president following the death of Percy Sonn last month. The nominee, once approved, will assume the role of acting president until the ICC's annual conference of 2008.

    Shaun Pollock struck his maiden one-day international century on Wednesday but failed to prevent Asia XI from scoring a 34-run win over Africa XI in the first of three matches. Pollock (33) one-day cricket's top-ranked all-rounder, lashed 130 to lift the innings from 87 for seven in reply to Asia XI's 317 for nine,

    Sri Lankan Tillakaratne Dilshan hit an unbeaten 47 to guide Asia XI to a six-wicket victory over Africa XI in the one-off Twenty20 cricket match in Bangalore on Tuesday. The Asian team were struggling at 34-3 before surpassing their opponents' modest total of 109-8 with more than four overs to spare in the day-night game on a seamer-friendly pitch.
