Olivier Fleurot took up his position as chief executive officer of the Financial Times newspaper and FT.com in January 2003. He had been managing director of the Financial Times newspaper since January 1999, and was appointed to the Pearson Management Committee in October 2002. He has also been a director of Interactive Data since May 2005.

Since November 1999, he has also been responsible for co-ordinating Pearson's other main newspaper activities, including Les Echos and Financial Times Deutschland. In October 2001 he was promoted to managing director of the FT's worldwide print and online business.

From November 1996 to December 1998, he was chief executive of the Les Echos group, France's leading business publisher.

Olivier started at Les Echos in 1988 and his first position was marketing, circulation and communications manager of the business division. In 1990, he was appointed deputy managing director, in charge of the business division (Les Echos newspaper, Enjeux magazine, LesEchos.Fr).

After graduating from Ecole Nationale Superieure des Mines, Saint Etienne, Olivier Fleurot began his career as an engineer before moving into journalism, covering high technology industries, and then into marketing and communication roles within software companies both in the USA and France.
