About UtilityGeek

My Purpose
This web site is fully developed by me- Jason.  As of right now I'm employed with a telecommunications company here in Lafayette, Louisiana.  For the past 3 1/2 years I've actually been doing PC technician work on both desktop units and laptop units.  Besides that, I enjoy working with my systems at home.  I've got one workstation, a server, and I've just recently added a laptop to my arsenal.  One thing is for sure, I'm always looking out for good software- mainly utilities.  Things that can make my PC experience more enjoyable and help me bring out the true power of my PC.  The web site is sort of like my best of the best findings.  As I come across software I like, I'll have it posted here.  So you don't have to worry about downloading bum utilities.  That's not going to happen to you if you're using this site.  That's my promise to you.

A little about me & my schooling...
Well, I live in Lafayette, Louisiana now but I'm actually from a small town about an hour north of here, called Ville Platte.  Once out of high school I made a valiant attempt at the 'college thing' but unlike other people, it just wasn't for me.  So, I transferred to the technical college here In Lafayette to study in the 'Networking Specialist' program.  It was about 6 months into my schooling here that I started working for local PC repair shops.  I have to say that I definitely learned more from the actual jobs than from school.  But don't get me wrong, the schooling was needed, and I did learn some quite interesting stuff there.

Not long after I was finished with the program at the technical college, I picked up another job at a larger PC shop.  More people, bigger clients...etc, etc.  The thing about this place was that I was able to learn a larger scale of equipment and software.  Both on the workstation and server level.

And now I'm at my current job.  Working mainly on laptop computers- about 150 give or take a few!  Which I have to say isn't all that bad.  Laptops of today are getting to be pretty tuff little units.

Well, if you made it this far, congratulations.  I had to swallow like four cups of coffee to get my brain in gear to remember all that stuff!  Ok, so maybe it was only three cups.  :)

I hope you enjoy your browsing here.  Feel free to send in any comments, questions, or suggestions you may have on the site.  I welcome them and love them.
