In his opening monologue on Friday night, Sean Hannity said that President Trump should "under zero circumstances" fire Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

According to a New York Times report, Rosenstein suggested secretly recording Trump and pressed cabinet members to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove him from office.

Rosenstein publicly denied the report in a statement to Fox News, saying that the story is "inaccurate and factually incorrect."

[During] this whole process, [Rosenstein] is and has been corrupt," Hannity said. "Nobody in this equation can be trusted."

The Times report said that Rosenstein's suggestion was never acted upon, though he reportedly told then-Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe that he could try to persuade Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Gen. John Kelly to help him.

Fox News has learned that during a meeting in May 2017, the subject of potentially appointing a special counsel to probe Russian election meddling was brought up.

The following day, Robert Mueller was appointed as special counsel. In the room during that meeting was McCabe, as well as Lisa Page, who have both denied the Times report.

"We are experiencing, tonight, a massive constitutional crisis, and frankly, this is designed to set up the president," Hannity said.

Hannity implored Trump not to fire Rosenstein, saying that "the deep state is crumbling from within."

"Under zero circumstances should the president fire anybody," he said. "The president needs to know it is all a setup."
