A newly uncovered photo shows James Hodgkinson, the man suspected of opening fire at a Republican congressional baseball practice in Virginia, holding a "Tax the rich" sign.

The sign reads "Tax the rich like Congress did for 70 years. Till Reagan's 'Trickle Down' we need '20 brackets - $20 million.'"

Hodgkinson, who died of injuries sustained during a shootout with Capitol Hill police, sprayed a hail of bullets at the baseball practice Wednesday morning, injuring House Majority Whip Steve Scalise and several others.

A Facebook page belonging to a person with the same name includes pictures of Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders and rhetoric against President Trump, including a post that reads: “Trump is a Traitor. Trump Has Destroyed Our Democracy. It’s Time to Destroy Trump & Co.," The Washington Post reported.

A friend of Hodgkinson’s, Charles Orear, told the Post he met Hodgkinson in Iowa while they were helping to campaign for Sanders. Orear described Hodgkinson as a “quiet guy.”

“He was this union tradesman, pretty stocky, and we stayed up talking politics,” Orear said. “He was more on the really progressive side of things.”

Sen. Sanders condemned the shooting in the "strongest possible terms," noting reports that the shooter once volunteered on his campaign.
