Fox News has confirmed that the gunman who opened fire on Republican congressmen at an Alexandria, Va., baseball field on Wednesday had a list of GOP lawmakers' names at the time of the shooting.

The FBI recovered the list, which was reportedly handwritten by suspect James Hodgkinson.

The names on the list reportedly include Reps. Scot DesJarlais (R-TN), Trent Franks (R-AZ), Jeff Duncan (R-SC), Jim Jordan (R-OH), Mo Brooks (R-AL) and Morgan Griffith (R-VA).

House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) and several others were injured in the shooting before Capitol Police fatally shot Hodgkinson.

Rep. Peter King (R-NY) said on "The Story" that this terrible incident is a sign that our political rhetoric has gotten far too extreme, and that it can "set off psychopaths" like Hodgkinson.

"When you disrupt meetings, when you start fires on campus, when you chase speakers off campus, that goes beyond legitimate political debate and legitimate political conduct," King said.

He said this reinforces the need for security at any gathering of members of Congress or any lawmaker's public town hall.

"The climate in this country has hit a very dangerous level," King said. "This is crazy. And it's time for people to say, 'Hey, this is wrong. Knock it off.'"
