Video that appears to be from a cell phone shows the moment James Hodgkinson opened fire on Congressional Republicans.

House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) was critically wounded after Hodgkinson fired off dozens of shots at Eugene Simpson Stadium in the Del Ray section of Alexandria, Va.

The video, taken by a man named Noah Nathan, shows a man lying in the baseball diamond with several people crowded around him.

Hodgkinson, a left-wing activist from southern Illinois, later died of his injuries after U.S. Capitol police returned fire.

As a member of House leadership, Scalise is protected by a security detail.

The Republican baseball team was practicing at the field near Reagan National Airport in preparation for an upcoming charity face-off with the Democrats.
