Brit Hume said the decline in civility between political factions in the U.S. "reached a zenith" with comedian Kathy Griffin's photo shoot.
Griffin posed with an effigy of a beheaded President Trump, was promptly criticized, and lost her CNN hosting duties.
"There has been a decline in civility of our discourse in our country," Hume said. "It reached kind of a zenith in all of this."

Hume said that political discourse has plummeted to a level where people have pure hatred for the other side of the aisle.
"There are people who oppose [Trump] who can't stand the sight of the man," he said.
He said such dislike has leaked into press coverage where reporters insert their personal biases into their reporting.
