Fred Mattocks

Fred Mattocks believes that there has never been so much opportunity for CBC/Radio-Canada to serve Canadians. His time at the CBC started with the establishment of the first wholly Inuktitut language radio station on the coast of Hudson’s Bay in Rankin Inlet, and has gone on over 30 plus years in a variety of operational and programming roles to see and be part of profound changes in media, society, and technology. Now the Chair of the Technology Strategy Board (TSB) in addition to his General Manager role in English Services, Fred feels he has finally arrived at a place where the opportunity for media in the public interest has never been greater. He is focussed on helping lead the Corporation to the realisation of that potential as part of the CBC/Radio-Canada family.
Philippe Aubé
Senior Manager, Transmission Engineering division
Philippe Aubé, P.Eng, MBA, began his career with CBC/Radio-Canada in 1999 as a Technical Supervisor, Transmission Operations for the Maritime Provinces. In 2005, Philippe moved to Halifax and became Project Engineer, Atlantic region, for CBC/Radio-Canada’s Transmission Engineering division. Since 2009, Philippe has been working out of Montreal as Senior Manager for the Transmission Engineering division. Philippe is a graduate of the University of Moncton, NB in Electrical Engineering (1999) and also has a Master of Business Administration degree from Saint Mary’s University, Halifax, NS (2008).
Guy Bouchard
Senior Manager for New Broadcast Technologies (NBT), CBC/Radio-Canada
Guy Bouchard is responsible for digital delivery technologies studies and projects within CBC/Radio-Canada Technology. During his 29 years with CBC/Radio-Canada, Guy has worked in analogue and digital television transmission and production systems, as well as satellite and terrestrial microwave communication systems. He holds a degree in Telecommunications from the University of Quebec and is a board member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) broadcast technology society. Guy has served the broadcast industry since 1979 with a special interest in digital communication systems. He has written and delivered papers on DTV for the IEEE, Canadian Digital Television (CDTV), and the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE).
Jean-Martin Thibault
IT/Software Enterprise Architect
Jean-Martin Thibault has been an IT/Software Enterprise Architect at CBC/Radio-Canada since 2012. He has 20 years of IT experience in a variety of fields, particularly health and telecommunications. In his work with the IT team at CBC/Radio-Canada, he focuses on media and new technologies.
Samir Youssef
Director of IT Project Delivery and Risk Management
Samir Youssef has been Director of IT Project Delivery and Risk Management since 2012. He has over 20 years of experience in information technologies and media. He heads up the IT Project Office and is also in charge of implementing the Information Security Risk Management Program
Jean-Pierre Bédard
Director, Telephony & Unified Communications, CBC/Radio-Canada Media Technology Services
Jean-Pierre Bédard began his career in 1982 at Télé-Québec prior to joining CBC Engineering Operations. Subsequently, he worked at Bell Mobility as a Microwaves & Cellular Networks Engineer, rising to Director of RF Engineering and Director of Operations of their Mobile Telephone Exchange in Ottawa. He then joined SNC-Lavalin as their Director of RF and quickly rose to General Manager of the Engineering department, overseeing the design and build-out of wireless networks across Canada. Since 2002, Jean-Pierre has worked in CBC/Radio-Canada Media Technology Services, mainly leading the convergence and unification of the various communication modes used within the Corporation. Internet telephony, videoconferencing, and in-building wireless mobility are among the top initiatives that he currently leads, with the aim of using the power of technology to enable business transformation, leading to greater operational efficiency and lower operating cost. Jean-Pierre completed his Bachelor’s degree at the École de Technologie Supérieure in 1982 and earned a Master’s degree in Project Management at the University of Quebec in Montreal in 1994. He is a certified Project Management Professional since 1995, a member of the Order of Engineers of Quebec, and CBC/Radio-Canada’s Director – Telephony & Unified Communications.
Alie McCormack
Senior Systems Designer, Media Technology Services
Alie McCormack began her career in 1999 as a Real-Time Software Designer at Ericsson Research Canada. She joined CBC/Radio-Canada’s Media Technology Services department in 2007, as a Senior Analyst, and rose to her current position as Senior Systems Designer in 2011. In her current position, she has been responsible for establishing and implementing the Rogers migration and managing the TERMS project. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics – Computer Science from the University of Quebec in Montreal.
Rob Stauffert
Enterprise Architect - IT Operations, Information Technology
Rob Stauffert began his career in the 1990s as a Systems Administrator. He joined CBC/Radio-Canada’s IT Department in 2006, as the MPS Manager of the CBC.ca infrastructure. His next role was to manage the Toronto IT Data Centre and the Toronto systems administration staff. Currently, he works as an architect providing solutions architecture for various projects, such as: Novell File and Print Migration, End Point Virtualisation, Virtual Music Library, and Active Directory
Sanjeev Kharbanda

Media Engineering
Sanjeev Kharbanda is the Manager, Media Engineering, within CBC/Radio-Canada’s Media Operations & Technology group in Toronto. He is responsible for the implementation of Radio, TV, and Digital projects within the English Services. He has been employed with CBC/Radio-Canada since 1988 and has worked on many projects, including Radio Centralisation, the DaletPlus & Avid rollout, Radio studios, and the like.
Christopher Brown

Christopher Brown’s IT career began at age 11, when he received his first computer, a Commodore 64. Chris joined the CBC/Radio-Canada IT team in September 2011 after 10 years as Manager, Network Operations at Corus Entertainment. He has specialised in datacentre design and operations, enterprise storage and backup systems, as well as virtualisation technologies. Currently, Chris’ role as Enterprise Architect, Infrastructure, is to develop programmes to empower workers and increase productivity as well as collaboration.
Pierre Lévesque
Director
IT Services Management
Pierre Lévesque has a Bachelor of Computer Science degree (1986) and an MBA in Finance (1993). He also holds the title of Chartered Financial Analyst, or CFA (1998), and has over 25 years of IT and finance experience. Working in IT, he has led several teams of business, development, rollout, and IT systems support analysts. In finance, he has experience as a financial analyst, an institutional broker, and a portfolio manager. Pierre has been teaching for over fifteen years (part-time) at HEC Montréal and UQAM. He joined CBC/Radio-Canada’s IT team in January 2013 as Director, IT Services Management.
Julie Bergeron

Julie Bergeron received her Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Sherbrooke in 2007. In 2008, she began her career at CBC/Radio-Canada in the Transmission Engineering group in Montreal as a Spectrum Engineer. Since then, Julie has been involved in a wide scope of activities such as radio coverage planning, DTV transition, and Safety Code 6 assessments. Julie has recently completed her Master’s degree in Engineering Management at the University of Sherbrooke.
Gregg Antworth

Gregg Antworth first worked as a general technician (camera, editing, directing) at cable television companies in New Brunswick and Ontario before joining CBC Halifax in 1984 as a casual technician, performing various jobs like Master Control Operator, Telecine Technician, and Editor. In 1986, he was promoted to full-time staff and has held several positions since then: ENG Editor; Senior Production Editor & Technical Instructor; Supervisor of Post Production Services & Technical Support Services; and Manager, Technical Operations. In 2006, Gregg transferred to CBC Toronto to become Manager, Video Post Production, and lead the Toronto Production Centre High-Definition Conversion project. In 2007, Gregg was promoted to Senior Manager, Post Production & Graphic Design.

Pierre Lemieux’s career started off in Montreal, as a Post-production technician for La Sette, Vision Globale, and Pixcom during the 1990s. Following that, he was part of the team that launched Global Montreal in 1997, where he filled a variety of technical positions prior to being promoted to Production Coordinator. He was recruited by BCE/Téléglobe in 2000 to fill the position of Technical Officer, Broadcast Centre, where he expanded his network of international clients, such as CNN, the BBC, and NHK, amongst others. Pierre joined Radio-Canada Montréal in 2001 as a Production Assistant (Resources Desk) within the News department, and then became Assistant Director. He was promoted to Technical Director, Post-production, in 2005, went onto become Senior Advisor and Coordinator, Post-production, in 2007, and became Director, Post-production & Closed Captioning Services, in 2009.
François Legrand
Senior Project Manager, Transformation Unit French Services
François Legrand has been with CBC/Radio-Canada for almost ten years. He joined the Corporation as a designer of broadcast engineering systems and became an electronic engineer in 2005. During the course of his career, he has been involved in a plethora of projects and has had a variety of different responsibilities, such as the preparation of plans and specifications, the design of TV/Radio/Internet systems, as well as the financial management and supervision of large-scale projects. He has held the position of Operations Manager, Regions of Quebec, where he coordinated the technological development of Quebec’s regional stations. Since the fall of 2012, he is a Senior Project Manager within the Transformation Unit of CBC/Radio-Canada’s French Services.
Hélène Michaud
Manager, Media Support, Special Projects
Hélène Michaud is Manager, Media Support, Special Projects within the Productions department of CBC/Radio-Canada’s French Services. Her time with CBC/Radio-Canada started in 2001 within the Information Support team, where she was responsible for training production personnel in the use of new computer systems. She continued to contribute to the digital transition in the newsrooms at CBMT, as well as in Ottawa, Quebec City, and Moncton. She was promoted to Manager, Media Support in 2006 and became responsible for Special Projects as well in 2009. In her current position, she has actively participated in technology and workflow implementations at the stations in Sherbrooke, Trois-Rivières, Saguenay, Montreal, and, most recently, at the Eastern Quebec Multimedia Centre in Rimouski.
Jonathan Jobin
Systems Designer, Media Engineering
Jonathan Jobin is a Systems Designer within the Media Engineering department and has been with CBC/Radio-Canada since 2006. He completed a technical diploma in audio-visual studies at Vieux-Montréal CEGEP, followed by a Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering at the University of Quebec in Montreal’s École de technologie supérieure; he is currently participating in an MBA programme at the University of Quebec in Montreal. He is passionate about technology and new technical and management challenges.
Paul Livi
Security Architect, Information Technology
Paul Livi, B.Sc., RHCSA, ITILv3, has been at CBC/Radio-Canada since July 1996 and is currently a Security Architect for CBC/Radio-Canada’s Information Technology Department. He has over 20 years of experience in Information Technology and Telecommunication roles in the banking, insurance, broadcasting, and small-business industries.
Eric Veysey
Senior Systems Analyst, Identity and Access Management
Eric Veysey, CISSP, CEH, CNE, has been a Senior Systems Analyst for CBC/Radio-Canada’s Identity and Access Management team since October 2006. He has been in the Information Technology field for 12 years, with a background in law enforcement, government, and start-up industries.
John Lee CBC/Radio-Canada’s Executive Director, Media Technology Services
John Lee held this position since 2009, following an eight-year stint as Director, Broadcast and Telecom Networks, CBC Technology. July 31, 2012 will mark a watershed event for CBC/Radio-Canada: the end of over-the-air analogue television broadcasting in both English and French across the country.

France Bigras has been with the Corporation for over 25 years; she holds a degree in Computer Science from the University of Montreal and possesses an excellent knowledge of media companies both in terms of technology and business operations.
Martin Delisle

Music and Digital Services
A media professional for over 25 years, Martin Delisle has worked for both CBC/Radio-Canada and private production companies. Since 2006, he’s been actively involved in building CBC/Radio-Canada’s digital offering as director of development teams. This period has seen online video consumption grow exponentially, with the Corporation’s digital platforms delivering signature events like the Olympic Games and NHL finals. Martin is one of the few members of the small team who initiated and orchestrated the Tou.tv project.
Marc Germain

Marc Germain is a certified electronic technologist that has been working in the broadcasting industry for well over 30 years. Early in his career, Marc worked as Technical Director for major broadcasters and also worked as a Broadcast Consultant before joining CBC/Radio-Canada in 2004 in the role of Senior Manager – CBC/Radio-Canada Transmission Operations. Since 2010, Marc has been working as a Project Manager for CBC/Radio-Canada Transmission based in Ottawa.
Dave Rainnie

Dave Rennie received his Bachelor of Applied Science degree in 2008 from the University of Regina, upon which he began his career with the Transmission Department at CBC/Radio-Canada as a Remote Area Transmitter Technologist at the Regina maintenance base. In 2010, Dave joined the Transmission Engineering group in Montréal as a Spectrum Engineer. In addition to his other duties, Dave has been responsible for the testing of alerting equipment for the National Alert Aggregation and Dissemination System since 2010. Dave is also currently pursuing a Master of Engineering degree from McGill University.
Charles Rousseau

Charles Rousseau graduated in 2000 as an electronics technologist from Collège Lionel-Groulx in Ste-Thérèse-de-Blainville, located north of Montreal. Thereafter, Charles worked for two years at the CRIQanechoic chamber as an electromagnetic compatibility technologist for Kontron Communication. Subsequently, Charles continued his electrical engineering studies at the École de technologie supérieure in Montreal and graduated in May 2005. Since then, Charles has been working for CBC/Radio-Canada where he is now Senior Engineer for CBC Transmission's Spectrum Engineering group.
