Peel Regional Police say they are looking for a number of suspects after the shooting death of a man at a Brampton motel in February.
On Monday, police said they arrested and charged a 24-year-old man with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Jahsavior Reid, 19, of Toronto.
"Investigators believe there are multiple other suspects connected with this homicide," Peel Regional Police Chief Jennifer Evans told reporters on Tuesday.
Police said Reid was involved in an altercation at Motel 6 on Steelwell Road, near Steeles Avenue East and Highway 410, in Brampton on Monday, Feb. 20 at about 10:20 p.m. He was shot several times and pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators believe the killing was targeted.
Evans said surveillance cameras at the motel caught images of the suspects walking on stairs. In the photos, the suspects have covered their faces with their hoods.
"Investigators are looking for the public's assistance in identifying these individuals," she said.
Det.-Sgt. Dan Johnstone, of the Peel Regional Police, said there is a "criminal element" in the killing of Reid.
"We believe that the victim was involved in criminal activity and that the culprits also were involved in criminal activity," he said.
