Editorial - Paul Jané

I am very pleased to welcome you to the fourth issue of SYNC, CBC/Radio-Canada’s online media, operations, and technology magazine, which aims to highlight the latest projects and business initiatives driven by the Technology Strategy Board (TSB).

The theme that ultimately stands out the most in this issue is interdepartmental collaboration, multidisciplinary teams coming together from the English and French Services, Information Technology, Media Technology Services, and even the Legal department, all in the interest of helping Canada’s National Broadcaster implement efficient technological solutions to fulfil the mandate given to CBC/Radio-Canada by the Canadian taxpayer.

Given the above, this issue features articles on a variety of different subjects, such as the challenges involved in complying with data integrity legislation within our new Cloud-based environment, the communication and collaboration necessary to successfully complete our transition into the world of file-based production, the technological innovations that the Corporation is implementing to engage our audience and our people in new and creative ways, as well as the degree of certainty that connection is making possible in the digital era.

As usual, I would like to take a moment to thank all of our contributors for their efforts, and the TSB for its support. Furthermore, I would like to thank the rest of the SYNC Board of Editors:
