Policy 1.1.16: Opening and Closing Procedures

Effective: July 6, 1994

The following are the procedures to be observed by all CBC/Radio-Canada stations when signing on or signing off the daily broadcasting services:

RADIO

Sign-on:

O Canada.
Greeting to listeners and licensing authority referral.

Sign-off:

Closing continuity and licensing authority referral.
O Canada.

The preferred recording of O Canada must be one recorded by a Canadian symphony orchestra.

TELEVISION

Sign-on:

Video	Audio
Color Bars	Tone or music
O Canada	O Canada
Station Identification	Opening continuity

Sign-off:

Video	Audio
Station Identification and authority referral	Closing continuity Closing continuity
O Canada	O Canada

The version of O Canada to be used is the National Film Board video recording entitled "With Glowing Hearts".

A standard video version will be used by all CBC/Radio-Canada TV stations.
