A-2016-00022 Request documentation from the CBC including internal memos, reports, legal statements, letters to the CBC and any other paperwork related to the broadcasting of the 1977 docudrama "The Tar Sands" directed, by Peter Pearson and first aired on September 12, 1977. Then Alberta Premier Peter Lougheed filled a $2.75 million dollar libel lawsuit against the CBC immediately following the airing of the documentary. I am also particularly interested in the out-of-court settlement to the libel case reached between the CBC and Premier Lougheed reached around May 10 1982. I would like to request any and all documents related to the terms of this settlement including the "Minutes of Settlement" and any internal reaction leading up to and reacting to this settlement.

This request is to better understand the spending of the CBC/Radio-Canada and its related organizations of capital markets financial data. Past 3 years and current annual spending on financial and capital data provisioning. Examples: 1. In the CBC website business section: - Charts of market indices – Currencies quotes web tool – Stock quotes web tool – Market mover’s web tool – Stock Symbol Lookup – Fundamental stock data and last trade data – Software application powered by or using financial and capital market data . 2. Macro-economic data that journalists use to write articles on the economy: GDP, Export/Imports, employment reports, etc. 3. Public company-specific data that journalists use to write articles on public companies: research and fact finding. 4. Capital market data used by the CBC pension funds in its daily operations . 5. Market data used in accounting systems: foreign exchange data feeds. 6. Staff labour costs and consultants costs to maintain and operate financial and capital market data. 7. Supplier contracts of market data provisioning. I would like the name and contact info of the person authorizing market data provisioning. I would like to see the invoices, as well as a description of the services.

The requester is interested primarily on the Capital Market on CBC website. Who supplies it and how much it costs?
He/she would like to pursue his question 1:
1. In the CBC website business section: - Charts of market indices – Currencies quotes web tool – Stock quotes web tool – Market mover’s web tool – Stock Symbol Lookup – Fundamental stock data and last trade data – Software application powered by or using financial and capital market data .

The requester no longer wishes to pursue questions 2, 3 and 4. Instead of this, he/she would be interested in receiving a list of financial publications that CBC’s library is a member of. He/she understands that this does not mean our journalists use this as their source for stories.

He/she would also like to pursue his question 5:

Regarding this point, he/she clarifies being interested primarily in the financial foreign exchange data in CBC’s accounting system (CBC works all over the world). He/she is also interested in any other information we can find on this point.
