You need root, busybox, tun.ko and the openvpn binary!
Features: UI similar to Wi-Fi settings; Restart tunnel when connectivity changes (e.g. from wifi to 3g); Start on boot; Passphrase; DNS; Script-Security; Write and View Log File; Open Source (GPLv3);
The prerequisites screen will check your device for root, busybox, tun.ko and the openvpn binary! This should be useful to new users figuring out what's needed to get openvpn running.
A working openvpn config is required.

Just works! This program kept me connected to the VPN when the default Android VPN kept dropping me. The only thing I don't like is having to install Auto Start to make it start when the tablet reboots.

Brilliant! It just works!! Very happy with this product but would like to see a few things added. The program exit and disconnects without any reason from time to time. Please investigate if there are any remote malicious backdoors that can be exploited. Please add a feature that stops internet traffic if the vpn is disrupted. Something that prevents traffic leaks when the vpn is inadvertently disconnected.

Nexus 5 how-to fix Running N5 stock 4.4.2, rooted, bb, custom kernel. OpenVPN installer doesn't work (cannot mount /system)... So I manually pushed "openvpn" to /system/xbin and set permission to rwxrwxrwx. Also I pushed "liblzo.so" to /system/lib with permission rw-r--r--. Now OpenVPN WORKS :)

Meh Installer could not mount /system as RW, manual installation via adb worked, but VPN could still not connect: no errors, log file empty :-/ Same config works just fine with "OpenVPN Connect"...

Not bad, but I have no other option. Performance is slightly off, but this is also due to my slow 3G connection, I've noticed that if using all the certificates split up with the .ovpn, it just loops into disconnect and reconnect. Whereas if I just use the .ovpn file on its own, it works good. This is actually the only OpenVPN application that has succeeded me on Cyanogen Mod 10, so I will rate 4 stars. Just the connection needs fixing a little bit :)

Adequate, but not robust This works pretty well under optimal conditions, but fails badly under sub-optimal conditions, when connectivity is erratic. First, it quickly gives up trying to reconnect to the VPN when the connection is broken. Second, it doesn't directly warn or inform the user that the connection has been lost; there is only the status icon, which is easily missed and which lags behind the actual status. Third, while there is an option for logging, the log only covers connection attempts, not disconnects.

HTTP Traffic Broken OpenVPN Settings got me through the last couple years, but after updating to ICS 4.0.3 HTTP traffic over the VPN doesn't work. I get an error stating the (multiple) IP address cannot be resolved. Happens in multiple browsers. LAN and VPN devices can ping each another. Laptop works on VPN fine. I've imported my configuration to an alternate VPN client and that also works. I may return in the future if this client is updated.
Tmobile Galaxy s2 with Paranoid Android 2.55 (4.1.2) This app made my day I will be donating. You follow a guide online have this awesome bridged VPN and official open VPN client can't load the conf? Used installer it verified binaries found already opened this app copied conf and keys to where it asked (in a sub dir no less thank you) and IT WORKED THE FIRST TIME WITH 2 TAPS! THANK YOU THIS APP HAS MADE MY WHOLE DAY :-) !
Perfect....but lacks custom header support...Add custom header support plz
Only OpenVPN solution that supports TAP! (The best protocol out!) Still works great! Install both Openvpn Installer & Openvpn Settings. Navigate to /data/app/de.schaeuffelhut.android.openvpn.installer-1.apk/assets and copy openvpn-2.1.1-static-busyboxinxbin to /system/xbin. Rename openvpn-2.1.1-static-busyboxinxbin to "openvpn." Set permission to "rwxr-xr-x." Launch "Openvpn Installer" for binary check. These directions worked great for me! "Use VPN DNS Server" option does not forward DNS traffic. This is minor!
