Sauber confirms van der Garde lawsuit
6 March 2015 – Sauber has confirmed that Giedo van der Garde has taken legal action against the team.
Van der Garde, who acted as Sauber's test driver last year, claims to have had a valid contract to race in 2015, but the outfit went on to sign Marcus Ericsson and Felipe Nasr.
A hearing over the matter will take place in Australia on Monday.
"As this matter is currently before the courts it would be inappropriate for me to comment on specific details," said Sauber team boss Monisha Kaltenborn.
"However, we will take all necessary steps to protect our company, this team and its interests.
"Last year was a challenging time for us but going into the 2015 season we have been focused on putting steps in place to ensure that we are delivering the best outcomes for F1's fans."
Van der Garde originally took his case to a Swiss arbitral tribunal, which sided with him.
