- OpenVPN is a client software to connect to an OpenVPN server and not a free VPN software. It allows to your own/company/university/provider OpenVPN server.

- Only tun mode support (Sorry no tap, with Android 4.0 only tun can be supported).
- permissions: this app ask implements a feature to import OpenVPN profiles from the SDCard/internal memory. Google categorizes this access "accessing your media and photos"

When I enter the username and password for the first time, I need to disconnect from VPN and connect again in order to be able to save the password. Also it would be better if there was an easier way to update the password.

It doesn't (reset) when switching vpn It won't properly switch to another config. It keeps using (preserved used address) and won't connect on the appropriate ip address and port of the selected config. (rebooting the phone temporarily fixes this)

Tethering is a firmware thing. The app cannot fix it, sorry. I've used in the past and like the import features and interface. But I could not use with PIA as there was an error on crl-verify. Could get the same script imported to another app and connect. If u like to reproduce then use the iOS script of PIA which is an all inclusive openvpn script. ====ADDED=== Did some research.. it seems the first issue was with the importer... it somehow imported part of the crl-verify twice. After deleting it, the next error was that custom commands have a 256 charecter limit and the keystring was obviously longer :-( . However the other android client seemed to have handled this well and differently. Hope author will take a look at this....===END of ADD===

I looked at this and the PIA profiles import fine for me. You can also just remove crl-verify line from the configs. Arne Schwabe January 26, 2016
For the message, that mean OpenVPN has not configured to verify the server. Probably that setting is missing from the VPN config file. Arne Schwabe February 19, 2016
