Want to get involved in an Internet Society Chapter, but there isn’t one near you? Then why not start your own! This page gives you some guidance on what to think about when you’re setting up a new Chapter, and how to lead a successful Chapter.
Starting a Chapter
So you’ve decided you want to start a new Internet Society Chapter - great news! Before you start, it’s a good idea to do some groundwork and think about what exactly you want to get done. From experience, we would suggest that you’re probably better off starting small, focusing on the activities you’re really passionate about, and building on your initial success before you attempt to tackle the more complicated programmes or a longer list of objectives. Here are the steps to consider (follow the links to find out more):
- Set your goals - what do you want your new Chapter to achieve?
- Identify necessary resources - what equipment and finance will you need, who will be responsible for tasks, and what are the timeframes for your project?
- Complete an application - you’ll need 25 Internet Society members, a draft set of bylaws and a completed application form before you can submit your application.
