Department Resources

Cat Ref Collection, short for Cataloging Reference Collection, includes information pertinent to the cataloging process, including links to local and national documentation, cataloging tools, dictionaries, encyclopedias, and a host of other information.

CCL Manual links to the online CCL (Commonwealth Campus Libraries) manual, which provides information to campus libraries for requesting cataloging and other services.

Department Info describes the organization of Cataloging and Metadata Services, including our mission statement, selected Cataloging statistics, organization chart, and a history of the cataloging process at Penn State.

Forms contains on-line and printable forms commonly used to communicate or request cataloging and maintenance from the department. The Campus Request for Cataloging (CRC) form can be found here. (Accessible Only to Staff)

Projects provides easy access to each team's Projects page in one location, and also includes a link to Submit a project request (staff only) to Cataloging.

Quick Refs provides links to documentation and Web pages often accessed by Cataloging personnel.

Services/Policies describes various policies and supportive functions, such as special requests, database maintenance, and areas of individual expertise.

Tech Resources provides links to instructional material for various software applications or equipment used by Cataloging personnel.

Training contains reference material and information relevant to specific training concerns provided by Cataloging and Metadata Services.

WorkFlows contains links for documentation related to cataloging with the WorkFlows client.

 

Cataloging Teams

CatMarking is responsible for the physical processing of all items passing through Cataloging Services.

Digital Access is responsible for ensuring seamless access to the Libraries’ digital assets by creating, managing, and re-purposing metadata.

Maps provides cataloging for all maps and atlases, regardless of format, for all University Libraries locations.

Monographs is responsible for cataloging all monographic books and reproductions of monographic books, excluding rare materials.

Music/AV catalogs scores, recorded music, and all audio-visual items.

Serials provides cataloging for all serial and periodical items held by the University Libraries. They work closely with Serials Acquisitions.

Special Collections, formerly the Rare Materials Team, works closely with the Special Collections Department faculty and staff to provide quality cataloging for all rare materials and special collections.

Top
