Huge Announcement: Goodbye, and Thank You

Hi everybody,

On August 14th, I Love Memphis turned four years old (and yes, as I do every year, I bought myself cake). It’s been an incredible four years. And though it’s really sad and tough to do it, it’s time for me to say goodbye.

When the CVB hired me as their social media specialist in August, 2009, I had no idea what I was doing. All I had was this idea for a website that featured all of the great, overlooked parts of Memphis – the parts that make this city so great. Four years later, it’s that, and so much more. This site has taken over my life, and I couldn’t be more grateful.

Running I Love Memphis has been the most rewarding, challenging, intense and inspiring thing I’ve ever done. I had a really great time. The best time.

But, it’s time for me to make room for other good things to happen. I have an amazing opportunity to work for myself, which is something I’ve wanted to do forever, and I couldn’t be more excited. I’m going to be doing freelance digital content strategy, social media strategy, information architecture and user research. It sounds super nerdy, and I can’t wait to get started.

September 30th will be my last day at I Love Memphis, but the site isn’t going anywhere. Over the next few weeks, I’ll be introducing you to Holly Whitfield. She’s picking up where I left off, and I’m sure you’re going to like her.

I’m not going anywhere, either. I still love Memphis, so I’m staying in the city, at least for the time being. Memphis is, and always will be home.

So, thank you. Thank you for reading. Thank you for emailing me. Thank you for asking questions, for answering them, and for correcting me when I’ve needed it. Thank you for answering my crazy requests at weird hours, for saying yes to me, and for stopping me at the store to tell me you like the site. Thank you for inviting me out, for taking me in, and for your endless kindness, patience and enthusiasm.

We built this crazy thing from scratch, together. You’re awesome, and I’m going to miss you a whole bunch.
