Militant Ansarullah Bangla Team banned

The government has banned Ansarullah Bangla Team, an alleged militant group which did not run its acivities openly.

The home ministry on Monday issued an order in this regard,following request from the police to do so.

"We took the decision on Thursday after the police had requested to ban the group, which is faced with a series of complaints." state minister for home affairs Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal told Prothom Alo.

The home ministry sent a letter to the information ministry asking it to disseminate the information about the ban on the Ansarullah Bangla Team, ministry officials said.

Ansarullah Bangla Team is being blamed for some terrorist activities. The group reportedly claimed responsibility of killing of bloggers in recent times through the social media. The Team is not a registered organisation in Bangaldesh.
